Historical ImportanceThe governor at the time Bernardo de Veiasco dismissed and dispersed his army under is control after thinking that the Paraguayan officials who had defeated the Portenos were a threat to his army. He did not pay them for the 9 months they were there. Before that he was humiliated by escaping a battle at Paraguari that he thought general Manuel Belgrano would win.
