TWO vehicle licensing and regis-tration authorities were officiallyopened in Port Elizabeth lastweek to assist especially the localmotor trade who have had to copewith only one centre up to now.
The Eastern Cape MEC forTransport ThandiswaMarawu of-ficially opened the Gelvandaleand Newton Park post offices’ ve-hicle licensing and registrationservices as part of the OctoberTransport Month Campaign andthe fulfillment of a promise madeby MEC Marawu during her poli-cy speech presentation in March2012.
“The aim is to assist the motormanufacturers, motor dealers, importers and builders”, said Ma-rawu.
Newton Park and GelvandalePost Offices are located in areas
where the highest number of vehi-cles are being registered and li-censed and this will ensure thatthe demand is met head-on. Andin time, it is also hoped that theservice will be available at everyPost Office in the province.
Over the last three years, 1,5million transactions have beendone at 102 branches offering thisfacility in the Eastern Cape.

their vehicle licences“The Motor Vehicle Licence
(MVL) renewal service is onedemonstration of how the SA PostOffice is enhancing its partner-ship with the Government for thebenefit and convenience of all citi-zens,” says Ndala Mnisi, GroupExecutive Retail at the South Af-rican Post Office. “The EasternCape Transport Departmentchose the Post Office to offer theservice thanks to our networksystem and our reach,” he added.

Let's look at High Blood PressureHigh Blood Pressure is one of the non-infectious diseases, such as, Diabetes, Heart conditions, Cancer, Mental Disorder, Oral Diseases, Eye disease, Kidney disease, Muscular-Skeletal condition, etc. These diseases are commonly
known as diseases of lifestyle.High Blood Pressure has been called the “silent killer” because it is something you usually cannot feel but it may be doing a lot of harm to your body if it is not treated. Fortunately there are steps you can take to treat your high
blood pressure very effectively and also prevent damage to important organs in your body like brain, eyes, heart and kidneys.
Your heart pumps blood to every part of your body through blood vessels. High Blood Pressure means that the blood presses hard against the walls of these vessels. If this carries on untreated then it starts to cause damage to the
walls of the vessels.
If you smoke; have poor eating habits / overweight; drink more than 2 measures of alcohol daily; high stress levels at work or at home; you do not exercise much (at least for 30 minutes three times a week); a man aged between
35 and 55; a woman 45 years and older, particularly once you have reached menopause.
High Blood Pressure cannot be permanently cured. However, it can be permanently controlled. By following the plan outlined by your health provider you can get your blood pressure down to normal levels and keep it there. As
long as you follow that plan you are preventing further damage from taking place.
What is High Blood Pressure?
