INCOMING STUDENT, Can you believe it? This time next month you will be starting your Oxford experience! As you are preparing for the fall semester, be sure to keep all of the deadlines listed below in mind. To kick things off, campus partners have gathered together to create some virtual events to help you get better acquainted with life at Oxford. Mark your calendar for these events to learn more about the resources that are available to you. Thursday, July 23 Mental Health & the High-Achieving Student: This program is for both students and their parents, as it examines some common mentalities that are held by high achieving students, like those who attend Oxford College. In particular, we’ll discuss ways in which these pervasive norms can lead to mental health concerns, but they don’t have to, if we have some awareness and alternative mindsets to offer. Ideal for incoming students and their parents to attend together! Part 1 of a 3-part series. Monday, August 3 Proactive & Prepared: Nobody can deny how unique fall of 2020 will be for college campuses, including some challenges. This program will articulate some expected challenges and offer suggestions on how to minimize their impact, academically, socially, and emotionally. Hosted by the Director of Oxford’s Counseling and Career Services and our Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, we’ll introduce ways to navigate this unique time to be a college student. Note: This event is open to incoming students and their parents/guardians. Did You Know? As an entering Oxford student, you have access to Inside Oxford, an internal website for current students, faculty, and staff. Inside Oxford includes links to the college catalog, shuttle schedule, finals schedule, and most of the critical information you need to thrive at Oxford. To access Inside Oxford at any time, click the button found in the upper right hand corner of the Oxford College website, and enter your Emory Network ID and password. Student Health Services visits are free for all students! We also have some procedures, services, medical supplies, and both prescription and over-the- counter medications available. All charges are billed through your bursar account within OPUS. Don't forget, you will automatically be enrolled in the Emory student health insurance plan unless you submit an online insurance waiver in your OPUS account by September 15. Please remember to print your confirmation page to verify your status. Religious & Spiritual Life offers a range of services and opportunities for you at Oxford College. Led by the College Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Lyn Pace, we have 10 religious and spiritual life groups for you to explore and join. Pastoral care and confidential counseling services are also available to all students. One of our signature events of the year is the annual fall retreat. This year's retreat is currently being designed and will be offered virtually. For more information about the retreat or any aspect of this office, please contact Rev. Pace at [email protected].
