ST. BERNARD'S 13 GOAL BURST IN THIRD TERMSix leaders beaten ® First loss for five of them
By GEORGE McTAGGART
Ormond got home by a point in a thrilling finish against North Old Boys,,,, ith a b4hind kicked within the last minute of play .
The scores had been level for some minutes prior to that and it lookedas if a drawn game would result .
University Blacks succumbed again to their hoodoo team - ReservoirOld Boys - going down by seven, points after a great start.
St. Bernard s were in trouble against Old Trinity in the first half, but arihcnomenal burst of 13 goals in the third quarter ended Trinity's chances ofcausing an upset.
Coburg pushed themselves up intolinal four calculations when they beatlionash Blues by almost 9 goals . Itwas Monash's third successive defeatand they have crashed from top placedown to 7th although out of the fouronly on percentages.
Coburg's two wins in a row havelifted them to sixth .
Coburg cleared out in the secondquarter when they kicked 7 goals tolead by more than 6 goals at the in--rval . They adapted themselves to
the windy conditions better thanMonask7, who were outplayed all day.
Nether North nor Ormond took fulladvantage of the wind in the firsthalf, and seemed to be able to scorealmost easily against it . Ormond kick-ed 3 goals against the wind in thefirst term to be only 7 points downbut were still 2 points in arrears athalf-time .
Ormond kicked 3 goals straight inthe third term but North added 5-8and we-e 22 points in front .
Ormond started the last quarter ingreat style and after wiping off theirdeficit went to a 13-point lead, andit looked all over.
THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - MAY 31, 1975
But North fought back gamely tolevel the scores and were unlucky tobe beaten right at the finish.
This is their second defeat in thelast minute of play - the Blacks didthe same a few weeks ago with agoal just before the siren.
Ormond continually broke down inattack against a strong North defencefor a good deal of the game, but itwas the North forwards who missedseveral chances to make the gamesafe in the last quarter and Ormond'saccuracy (16-9 to 14-20) won it forthem .
The Blacks kicked 6-9 to 4 pointsin the first quarter against ReservoirOld Boys and were still 17 points infront at half-time .
But Reservoir kicked 9 goals againstthe wind in the third auarter and heldthe Blacks to 2-3 . Reservoir finishedon well to score by 7 points .
Geelong led Old Paradians for mostof the game and looked set for theirfirst win when they were 21 pointsin front at three-quarter-time, butParade kicked 5 goals in the last term, getting to the front shortly before thefinish to win by 6 points .

Ivanhoe lost their place in the fourwhen they went down by 28 points t
oMarcellin, and have dropped toseventh . Collegians, with a win ove rOld Haileybury by the .same margin ,have gone into the four.
The wind played havoc with the for-wards' accuracy in the latter game,Collegians kicking 8-15 t o4-11 Haileybury's
