Package of Technologies for On-farm Processing, Value Addition & Safe Storage of Onions
l Compared to all traditional methods available, on-farm
modular ventilated curing structure IICPT model found
to be best for curing without quality deterioration,
which is cheap and affordable by farmers and can be
easily fabricated.
l MAP using diffusion channel system was found to
be suitable for bulk storage of onion for more than 3
months without any quality deterioration at 10°C even
though the recommended temperature is 0°C.
l On-farm Modular Ventilated Structure stores the onions
for 9 weeks at ambient conditions without quality
deterioration.

Insect Infestation Stored Date Fruits and its Management
l It was observed that several date samples purchased
from local market were damaged and contaminated by
the insects.
l The damaged dates have insect excreta, dead insects
and insect parts. Insects emerged from the infested
dates may also contaminate uninfested dates.
Suitability of Paddy Varieties for Vermicelli Production
l Vermicelli production from IR Hazer Bas paddy, Jay Sri
Ram paddy and RPN paddy varieties show poor quality.
l A blend of more refined flour may give some better
results.
Study on Effect of Ozone Treatment of Sugarcane Juice for Extending the Shelf life
l An ozone treatment
chamber 1L capacity
for fruit juices has
been developed. This
chamber was made
of glass material and
consists of ozone inlet, ozone diffuser, ozone outlet. l Sugarcane juice was treated with ozone concentrations
such as 50, 100 and 150 ppm with different exposure
time 15, 30 and 45min and shelf life was studied.
Quality Evaluation of Instant Dry-Ginger Coffee Mix and Tuna Pickle Mix
l Instant tuna pickle mix moisture content was found
to be high, so it can be lowered as it will improve the
crispiness, mouth-feel of the instant tuna pickle and
also there will be less susceptibility to spoilage. l Microbial load should be NIL for instant mixes as per
FSSAI standards. Both the instant mixes were received
highest preferable score.
Assessment of Out Turn ratio (OTR) of Paddy Varieties in India (In eleven States of the Country)
l FCI Trial Milling: (1) Sri Gouri Putra Agro Products Pvt.,
