EPIDEMIOLOGY

Most of infected people will never be aware

In 10% the bacteria will be activated 50% mortality rate if not treated

Kills 1.5 million people worldwide every year

Is second only to Malaria

HOW IT SPREADS By airborne respiratory droplets (coughs

or sneezes)

By saliva (kissing or shared drinks)

highly contagious

Mostly affects lungs

But can affect any parts of the body even testicles!

SYMPTOMS IF ACTIVATED

cough (chronic and sometimes blood-tinged)

weight loss (where the name consumption came from)

Pain in the chest

Whole body: chills, fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, malaise, night sweats, or sweating

Also common: loss of muscle, phlegm, shortness of breath, swollen lymph nodes, or unintentional weight loss
