Roshven HouseRoshven, Nr Fort William

Roshven is a magnificent house situated on a secluded and private beach. Sleeping up to 20 guests in 10 bedrooms with bathrooms, the property has just been renovated to a very high standard. A mix of traditional and modern, with underfloor heating, contemporary art and yet with open fires, a beautiful panelled library and four poster beds. The house looks across to the Hebridean islands of Eigg, Rum, Muck and in the distance Skye, a view that would be hard to beat. With activities ranging from canoeing, picnicking on beaches only accessible by boat, fishing, hill walking or driving around the west coast and islands, guests will have a considerable list of pursuits to choose from. The house is an attractive Victorian castellated mansion, started in 1852 by the well-known artist Jemima Blackburn and her husband Hugh. Rebuilt from top to bottom between early 2007 and 2010 it is

extremely comfortable. Suffice to say it has underfloor heating, each of the 10 available bedrooms has its own bathroom, it has a beautiful drawing room and library on the 1st floor. The dining room can seat 26 and has three French windows facing the sea. All but one bedroom looks onto the sea, and there is a wet room with a drench shower that has a glass front on the top of the building; everyone is awestruck by this room. The walls display a good collection of Scottish contemporary art, much of which has been commissioned especially. Works by Jock Mcfadyn, James Morrison, Frances MacDonald, Oona Campbell, Ethel Walker and many others. Have a big formal dinner one night, get the local musicians in and dance a few Scottish reels. Take some canoes out and have a daylong expedition to Arisaig with waifs and strays going ahead in the boat to get a BBQ going on Rhu beach.

New Court Park

Lugwardine, Hertfordshire

New Court as it stands today is an 18th century Grade II* listed manor house with earlier Tudor origins. The Manor of Lugwardine dates back to William the Conqueror. In the 13th century it was given to the notorious Simon de Montfort who was killed at the Battle of Evesham in 1265. It was then passed to Lord Chandos and by descent through Lord Beauchamp to the Rede Family. In a Deed of 1572, William Rede built the east wing of the House. The entrance hall with its Rococo plasterwork ceiling was built in 1751. In 1808-1809, the Regency west wing was added and designed by Henry Seward, a pupil of Sir John Soane, the surveyor of works & buildings to the Crown. At the same time he ‘Gothicised’ the entire exterior of the House, giving it the character which it retains today. The accommodation is in the front of the property and guests will have exclusive use of the grounds they overlook.

Canon Pyon LodgeHerefordshire

Built in the era of elegance, Canon Pyon is a house of luxury, serenity and sophisticated indulgence. Even with a full quota of 30 guests, it is impossible for The Lodge to feel overrun. Its 12 en-suite bedrooms, three large communal rooms, spacious kitchen and expansive grounds, mean there’s more than enough room for one and all. However don’t think that space is all this Edwardian mansion has to offer. Making sure that no detail has been overlooked in its design, The Lodge’s décor and finish are the embodiment of luxurious living. Although The Lodge’s grounds include seven acres of fruit orchards, more immediately, the house is surrounded by an acre-sized traditional English country garden. A traditional country garden that boasts beautifully manicured lawns and lovingly tended flowerbeds.

Enclosed by the walls of The Lodge, the sheltered Zen garden, complete with hot tub, provides a relaxing spot to relax whatever the time of year. So all in all it’s just as perfect for nature lovers who are keen to spot the wildlife the orchards have to offer – pheasants, squirrels and rabbits – as it is summer parties. While set in eight acres of grounds, surrounded by the rolling Herefordshire countryside, The Lodge is in no way isolated. Just 5 miles from the cathedral city of Hereford, it offers the best of both worlds. The serenity of its seclusion with all the trappings of a city close to hand. To make the most of your time in Herefordshire and for your convenience, we would advise driving to The Lodge. However as long as some of your guests do so, others may take advantage of the direct trains to Hereford from London Paddington or if coming from further away, Bristol or Birmingham airport are approximately 70 miles from the house.

The house was launched onto the rental market in the summer of 2007, following an extensive six-month refurbishment project. It is now a vibrant modern home with definite wow factor - stylish, sunny and spacious - yet with the best of its period features intact, including beautiful fireplaces, intricate architraves and a handsome, oak-panelled dining room. Three reception rooms, a newly-installed luxury kitchen with an Aga, a keyhole-shaped swimming pool, tennis court, gym and a games barn make this a heavenly venue for a large group. Alternatively, you can take over the house for a business function. The state-of-the-art electronic presentation screen in the dining room, the huge oak table seating up to 28 and the wi-fi broadband throughout the house make it the perfect venue for a corporate/team-building exercise or a board meeting.
