In Situ Oil Sands: SOR Reduction & Production Optimization Initiative
In situ techniques have now overtaken mining as the principal method of oil sands extraction, producing 1.1 million b/d compared with 850, 000 b/d through mining in 2013. This trend is only set to grow with the latest CAPP forecasts predicting that in situ oil sands production will account for 3.2 million b/d by 2030.
In order to reach this ambitious target however, in situ oil sands producers need to understand how they can harness the latest technologies and operating strategies to maximize their productivity.
With SAGD proving the most successful method for in situ production to date, the focus of operators is on how they can reduce their steam oil ratio whilst cost-effectively optimizing production rates.
To help move towards this goal, leading E&Ps will be gathering again for the 3rd Annual In Situ Oil Sands: SOR Reduction & Production Optimization Initiative 2014 will be to examine the latest technologies and operating strategies for reducing SOR & optimizing productivity in SAGD wells.
Speakers at the event will be providing real life operator experiences of harnessing advances in inflow control, thief zone management, co-injection, instrumentation, artificial lift and smart completions to maximize their production rates and minimize their SOR.
