Due to the dramatic increase in the number of computer users and the deployment of smart devices

in everything from military applications to medical devices, the amount of data generated has

increased exponentially. The volume of data that enterprises need to process is increasing with each

passing day. Existing infrastructure is not able to cope with the size of data and applications are not

able to generate results within a suitable time. In-Memory Computing brings value to business by

reducing the size of the processing window used by batch process from days to hours to minutes. It

also provides situational awareness by detecting patterns in the business events and helps in

identifying business threats and opportunities, allowing businesses to take immediate action.

By 2018, in-memory computing market is estimated to reach a value of USD 2.5 billion with SMBs at

the forefront of the growth due to increased emphasis on analytics. In-memory technology have a

significant impact on certain application sectors such as analytics while other sectors such as

automotive are in nascent state and are expected to widely impact the market in few years.
