Presidents Report
If anyone’s wondering what the Rotary week in the life of the
Beaumaris Rotary President looks like, it looks like this.
Tuesday 12th April: Board meeting at Beaumaris Sen-
ior Citizens rooms
Tuesday 14th April: District Golf day at Keysborough
None of this would be possible without the dedicated work of
so many members of the Club – Roy and James keep us tick-
ing over at the Board, our decisions recorded and our money
managed. Tony Phillips, after Robert’s initial work on it, got us
all organized for the District Golf day; Richard and Rewa, Da-
vid and Joy set up the car rally and then kept us in line, and
then Malcolm and his team are working hard on Monday night
setting us up for next year. And all the members keep coming
along and supporting everything we do; thanks to one and all.
At the Board meeting amongst matters discussed were;
• We would sponsor a couple of members to attend the
Rotary Leadership Institute
• We are going to set up a club US$ account to minimize
foreign exchange costs for our international projects :
thanks to Ken and James for continuing to battle away
on this issue
• Insurance and risk issues: we will need to be very aware
of these issues so that we are covered for members and
the community. Rotary Insurance is very good, but we
need to comply with the requirements to be effective.
We will be working further on this.

The next Board meeting date has been changed to Tues-
day 3rd May, any member is welcome to attend; we are
still at the Beaumaris Senior Citizens rooms.
At the Golf Day the specialized lingo of golf became ap-
parent to me, it truly reflects what our speaker from
Transparency International asked last week, “Were we a
golf club that had a Rotary Club as a subset?” Charmaine
Jansz and Richard Jones managed to keep our club
name to the fore (pun) even though we didn’t manage to
win any of the major prizes. At the end it was virtually
raining golf balls, I think nearly every golfer managed to
get at least one free golf ball. Wolf and I have now man-
aged to see another South Eastern Golf course, very pret-
ty Keysborough is, once you get off the road. The
Keysborough Club gave the District an extremely good
deal, several of the Noble Park Club were integral to the
management of the day and did a great job.
The Car Rally was great fun and required a degree of
local knowledge, not all of it could be googled. The pre
preparation was really good, timing good, degree of diffi-
culty just right and I think we all learnt something new
about our area. It was tremendous to have informal fel-
lowship afterwards, be able to pack up and then go home
for a rest. Thanks to those who picked up the BBQ and
returned it. It was classic Australian BBQ action, there’s a
very telling picture of many men clustered around the
BBQ worshipping the BBQd meat god. See photos on
page 3.
Next week our Local Member of Parliament Murray
Thompson is the speaker, Murray is a good friend of
Beaumaris Rotary so I look forward to seeing him and
hearing of his current issues and interests.
Thanks to you all for your dedication and commitment.
Best wishes to you all,
Yours in Rotary
