The opening of the first part of our playground was an enormous success. Every class had the chance to play on the new playground and were so excited to play on all the new equipment. We are still having a few issues with some children going on the equipment before and after school. Unsupervised children are not allowed to use the playground before or after school to comply with health and safety directions. On Monday night, I had the pleasure of joining Mrs Powell, Faith Hoe (6B), Dempsey Fricker (6B) and their respective parents. We were presented with the 2017 Zenith Commendation Award for most sustained improvement across all Primary Schools. Congratulations to everyone involved from the singers and the dancers, to the musicians, the seamstresses, the teachers, the choreographers and of course our wonderful parents. On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, our Year Three classes celebrated their First Reconciliation. The children were reverent and prayerful as they reconciled their relationship with God; embraced in love and forgiveness. I thank Mrs Kelly, Mrs Gravett and Mrs Allen for preparing the students, and our families for supporting the children in this step in their faith journey. We are blessed to have the support of Chris Neville and Father Jeronimo, along with other members of the Parish. On Sunday morning, we will be celebrating our annual Grandparents’ Mass in the Parish, followed by the sharing of cake with all our First Holy Communicants. Today the focus was on Athletics and we were fortunate to have perfect weather for this occasion. The children supported and encouraged each other throughout the day, it was great to see them modelling our TRUE values. A big Thank You to all the wonderful helpers who were there at the crack of dawn to help set up and thanks to all those who assisted throughout the day to ensure the smooth running of the Carnival. Orders can be taken by filling out the form with the correct money and placing it in an envelope. Forms can be handed into the class teacher or placed in the office drop box. Cut off is 3pm on Monday 18th September and we are unable to accept late orders. Please click here to access the Pizza order form.
This weekend we come together as a Parish and school community to congratulate our children who recently received the precious gift of Jesus for the first time. We welcome our choir from St Peter’s Primary school and thank the children and staff who helped with our celebration. We acknowledge the wonderful gift of our grandparents – their love and support and the gift of their faith enriches our lives and so we thank them from the bottom of our hearts, not only today but always. Help us create a St Peter's Parish family tree by writing the names of your grandparents on a leaf from the basket on the back bench. Father will call everyone to come forward and hang the leaves on a special tree to show our happy extended Parish family. All are invited to the Parish Hall for morning tea and to cut our First Communion cake after 10am Mass.
FIRST COMMUNION CAKE AND GRANDPARENTS’ MASS
FIRST RECONCILIATION
This beautiful Sacrament of Healing is a very real example of God’s love and mercy for us, His children. During the week, 92 children received this precious gift of mercy and forgiveness for the first time. While there were a few nerves and anxious moments, we are reminded that God is always ready to forgive us – we come before Him with a humble heart and open ourselves to His love. When we leave, we try to forgive others just as God has forgiven us. We thank our teachers and catechists for their thorough preparation of the children and our parents who support us. Special thanks to Rebecca Cattai and her mother for creating and donating our beautiful scented candles as a reminder of the light of God in our lives.

September is DADember
DADember is the St Peter’s Dads (SPD) promotion of the important role that Father Figures can play in development of children. Research shows a Dad’s engagement with his kids has positive effects on social and cognitive competence, increased social responsibility and maturity, positive self-control and self-esteem, fewer school adjustment difficulties and better academic progress. The school has organised an Activity Calendar of short events in September designed especially for Father Figures to participate with the class. To register for any rosters or excursions, please print off and complete the Nomination Form flyer below, and send back with your child to give to their teacher. These 2 clickable links have all the details: DADember Activity Calendar DADember Class Activity Nomination Form While DADember is a great opportunity to get involved, we appreciate that not all Father Figures are able to participate in class activities due to work and other commitments. We encourage all Father Figures to think about what they can during September to the support the development of their children. THE BIG CAMP OUT – SATURDAY OCTOBER 14 2017 - Camp
overnight under the stars on the hallowed turf at Domain Stadium, former home of the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers and make memories to last a lifetime. The Big Camp Out, run by The Fathering Project, will take over Domain Stadium on Saturday October 14 and gives dads/father figures the chance to take part in some great activities with their sons and daughters. Check out the website for all the details.
The Big Camp Out is a partnership event between The Fathering Project and Outdoors WA. Research shows there are fewer issues with alcohol, substance abuse, suicide, mental health issues and the like when dads are involved in a child’s life.
