The month of June is upon us! There are many, many things going on during the month. We are trying to maintain a focus on academ- ics, especially as our Grade 3 students complete a pro- vincial mathematics assess- ment. Teachers are also busy assessing the learning that has taken place during Term 3 as this data is es- sential in order to complete report cards. There are also the other important learning activities that take place during June – track and field meets, field days, end- of-year trips, and celebra- tions such as the Citizenship Assembly, the Grade 6 clos- ing, and the like. At some point this month, all students will be leaving the school grounds for an activity. These “out of classroom” activities are important, both socially and academically. They tend to have both an entertainment component and an education component. Students also learn they are representing the school when they attend an event away from the school and there are certain expectations when doing so. This is all part of the teach- ing-learning environment. As the last month of school is so very busy, we encour- age parents/guardians to pay extra attention to the Im- portant Dates section of the June Newsletter. You are also encouraged, if you are able, to visit the school web site at and view the News- letter and/or the June Cal- endar. Teachers at the vari- ous grade levels will also convey messages via your child’s student agenda. This vigilance is even more neces- sary if an activity takes place outdoors as proper precautions (sun glasses, sun screen, hat, insect repellant) may need to be taken. Lastly, we at the school would like to take this op- portunity to thank all par- ents/guardians for your co- operation and continued sup- port over this school year. Later this week we will be meeting and speaking with a new batch of students and their parents/guardians at the Primary Orientation.
