From 1914 -1919, WW 1 erupted in Europe
This “Great War” was the largest, most destructive
war the world had yet seen
WWI was a global war that altered the course
of the 20th century
Militarism = a nation’s armed forces come to dominate a country’s national policy; a glorification of the military and war itself.Alliances = treaties in which each nation involved pledges to defend the other if attacked by an aggressorImperialism = domination by one country over the political, economic or cultural life of another country or region. Nationalism = strong pride and patriotism in
one’s nation• In terms of WWI, nationalism became aggressive
which led to international tension.

Created the League of Nations• Made up of 42 nations• Goal: to provide a forum for solving international
problems• Trying to prevent another world war- EPIC FAIL!
Punished Germany• They would pay reparations- cost of damages• They would lose all the land they had conquered• Their military would be dismembered • This would set up for Hitler to take power!
