inter is the time of year when the wind turns cold and you bundle up with coats, gloves, and scarves to protect yourselves from old man winter’s painful bite. The sun sets a little earlier which make the days seem shorter. Snow falls slowly and silently, leaving a blanket of white sparkling crystals in the evening moonlight. Snow isn’t the only white stuff to ever fall from the skies. Many years ago the Israelites had a special kind of “white stuff” fall from the sky. Moses had led the Israelites out of Egypt and while they were traveling through the wilderness they came to the Desert of Sin. It sounds like a pretty rotten place. While in the desert, the Israelites began griping and complaining to God and Moses because they had no food to eat. After hearing the grumbling, God told Moses He would send a rain of bread from heaven every morning. God did just as he promised, and every morning the Israelites would wake up to see the ground covered with a beautiful white bread known as manna. To us it may have looked like snow covering the ground. Imagine that, snow in the desert. Every day for forty years, God sent manna from heaven for the Israelites to eat. As long as the Israelites needed food, God provided! The Bible tells us that one of God’s names is Jehovah Jireh which means “God our provider.” Whatever you need, God will provide. In case you’re thinking, “I NEED an xBox 360, ask yourself this: “Can I eat it, wear it, or live in it?” If the answer is no then you don’t NEED it. So, the next time you see snow outside your window or in a picture, be thankful that God makes sure His people have food to eat, clothes to wear, and a place to sleep. January is the perfect month to spend some quality "winter time" as a family. Use some of the

following ideas to form a chilly bond with your children.

Headless Snowman

Bundle up the kids and head for the snow. Make the bottom two circles of a snowman. Instead of putting the top circle on your snowman, let your child's head be the snowman's head. You can give your child accessories such as a scarf, hat, and corncob pipe. Make sure you take pictures of the cutest snowman on your block! No snow, no worries. Let your kids decorate their bedroom doors with fake snowmen using poster board, construction paper, and markers. The kids draw a self portrait for the head.

Random Snowman

Divide your family into teams. Set a timer for 3 minutes. On "go" each team runs through the house and grabs items they think will make a great snowman. At the end of 3 minutes, the teams have 60 seconds to create a snowman with the "supplies" collected. Have a family vote to see which snowman looks the best or have a great time laughing at your creations!

Frozen Bubbles

Use your own bubble mixture or make it with the following ingredients: 1/2 c. soap powder, 1/2 c. sugar, and 3 cups hot water. If it’s freezing outside, take the bubble solution into the frigid air. If not, use a freezer. Make bubbles of different sizes and freeze them. Have fun playing with your frozen bubbles!

Slippery Stack

Dig out your old ice cube trays, fill them with water, and freeze them (or run to the corner gas station and buy a bag of ice). Give each member of the family a large plate and a bunch of ice cubes. Set a timer for three minutes and see who can “build” the tallest ice stack.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, boys and girls!!!

It’s Mr. Jim here. I have to tell you….I have never been so EXCITED about what GOD is do-ing in ALL OF OUR LIVES!!! It’s a new season of new beginning! In KidZone we are getting ready to be “Agents” investigating the TRUTH! Each weekend starting in January, we will find those truths with the help of one crazy guy by the name of Mr. Trench. The 3rd-6th graders are preparing to go next month on a fun Children’s Ministry Training Event at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells! We also have a new group of 5th & 6th graders that are newly named JrJLT’s. The 7th-12th graders are JLT’s helping to minis-ter, train and mentor the JrJLT’s. WOW! All this and it’s only January!

Now, just a little about me personally… A year ago this month, God called me to help get His message about His son Jesus out to His chil-dren. My family and I will be one of the many teams God is training up to teach in KidZone Kid’s Church this upcoming year to do just that! We look forward to what God has for each and

every one of us in 2011! Keep looking around to see other new and exciting changes ahead!!!
