HPV Infection
• Most females and males will be infected with at
least one type of HPV at some point in their
lives
▪ Estimated 80 million Americans currently infected
▪ 14 million new infections/year in the US
▪ HPV infection is most common in people in their teens
and early 20s
• Most people will never know that they have
been infected

Alabama Adolescent Vaccine Task
Force (AAVTF)
• Began after SJR 113 passed in March and Dr. Melinda Wharton, CDC, visited AL in April
• Partners meet quarterly to discuss how to increase rates
• 4 Work Groups being formed

increase adolescent vaccine rates
