Our School students participated in several activities in order to achieve a better understanding of the problem of migration in our country.

In Greece the institution of second chance schools is also applied in several state

prisons. In fact there are six such schools operating this year.

students who are mostly immigrants ( 90%)

Open Window to the World

The Second Chance schools operating in prisons of Greece are “an open Window” to

the world. The immigrant prisoners appreciate these schools very much. Their benefits are of great importance because

among other lessons they have the opportunity to learn the Greek language

The statistics of the Greek police in 2005 showed that the percentage of immigrants arrested for crime were:

Another group of our students that were responsible for taking the interviews met four immigrants working in Greece:

o an Albaniano a Philippineo a Georgian and o a Russian

To help immigrants know what to do to acquire legal papers and which state services to address to, there is a guide issued by the Greek immigration services in both, Greek and English Language
