OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE, NOV. 22, 2020

Dear Parishioner,

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, we

give thanks for each of you and the blessing you are

to our parish family. Be assured our prayers for you

and your family as we enter into the joyous Advent

and Christmas Season.

Fr. Ken & Fr. Tim

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Please be generous in this week’s special

collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human

Development. In the United States, one in six people

lives in poverty. With this collection, you support

programs that address the causes of poverty and

provide a sustainable future for those struggling

across the country. In addition, 25% of the funds we

collect will remain in our diocese to fund local

antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how

you can support this collection and work on the

margins. More information about the Catholic

Campaign for Human Development can be found at

www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

Remember in your prayers those who have

died, especially Ned Pryer and Fr. Tim’s mother, Bev

Corbet.

Legacies and bequests help continue the faith.

Please remember Immaculate Conception Parish in

your will and expressions of sympathy.

Bazaar Orders

Please have your soup order and payment

completed and put into the offering box or drop

off at the Parish Office no later than November

22. Pick up will be December 5 and 6, using a

drive through lane at the PAC.

Lend a Hand

We are seeking volunteers to be part of a

two to four person crew that cleans the sanctuary

and sacristies of our church. Some of our long

standing church cleaners have had to step down

from this position. Teams serve on a rotating

basis, of approximately every two months. This

could be an opportunity to meet and work with

other parishioners or get your spouse, siblings or

friends together and volunteer! Chores include

dusting, vacuuming and cleaning windows in

doors. Cleaning supplies are provided. Contact

the Parish Office if you can assist.

Angel Tree Program

Immaculate Conception Parish will once

again participate in the Angel Tree Program.

Two Christmas trees decorated with tags have

been set up in the back of church. Remove a tag

or a couple of tags from the tree and purchase a

toy. There will be NO clothing tags this year.

Return the gift(s) to the tables at the doors of

church, along with the tag attached to the gift, by

Dec. 3. Please DO NOT wrap the gifts.

The Angel Tree Program brings people and

agencies of Mercer County together to provide

some Christmas gifts to people in need. This is a

great family project for the Advent Season!

Thank you for helping to make Christmas a little

brighter for some area families!

Food Collection

On Thanksgiving and through the

following weekend we will be collecting non-

perishable food items to be distributed to Celina

food pantries. Food pantries are not permitted to

distribute food items with expired dates so please

check expiration dates on all items. Please come

to mass on those days with an item or items to be

donated and place them on the tables at the

entrances to the church. Be thankful for what

God has given you by sharing your gifts with

others. Thank you for your generosity!

Gift Cards for Thanksgiving Shopping!!! Buy your gift cards now so you’re ready to

go to the store for all your Thanksgiving needs! We

carry Chief, Friendly, and Walmart cards, so

purchase those for the food you will buy for

Thanksgiving dinner. We have Pullman Bay and

Bob Evans cards for your pies too. Yum!!! Scrip is

such an easy, cost-free way to earn $$$ for our

school. Please participate and have a HAPPY

THANKSGIVING!

Everyday Stewardship – Recognize God In

Your Ordinary Moments

There Is Much to Be Done Growing up Catholic means I must have

heard a million times the passage in Matthew’s

Gospel about how doing things for the “least of

these” means you have done them for Jesus. Okay,

that is an exaggeration to make a point. But it has

been a slogan for so many social justice activities,

from clothing and canned food drives, to letter

writing campaigns and peaceful protests.

Growing up I only knew how to help the

least of these through the school and church

activities of the time. Today, YouTube and

GodTube are filled with videos of creative ways

people reach out to one another. Have you seen the

one about the pizza party for the homeless? How

about the fake lottery ticket or the house bought

from online donations for a poor man? There are

even videos of people paying for the car behind

them at the drive-through! The awesome thing

about this is that it serves as a witness to others.

It is not boasting but instead sharing the Good

News. Giving and good stewardship can be

contagious!

Our pastor has several times over the years

handed out $10 bills to confirmation candidates

and asked them to “pay it forward.” They can keep

the money or use it to make a difference in

someone else’s life. One teen planted a garden for

an elderly woman. One bought ingredients for

brownies and sold them to give even more than

$10 to charity. The teens not only learned

something about good stewardship in the process,

but also served as great examples to the parish

community.

As always, there is much to be done. The

King is coming soon! Let’s spread the news and

some love at the same time!
