MEET OUR TEACHERS ; Name: NATALIA GARVAYO MARTÍN ; Occupation: This my first year teaching at IML Kids. ; Birthday: 9 March 1985 ; Place of birth: I was born in Motril, but I’ve been living here since 2003 when I came to Granada to study Eng-lish Studies.

; Favourite Place: London!! For me, this is an amazing city! I was living there and I’d like to go back soon. ; Sports: I enjoy going to the gym, although in summer I only like swimming!! ; Favourite English Dish: I used to go to a famous place in London called O’neills, so I would say that foodprepared there!!

; Favourite thing about teaching: Obviously, the KIDS!! Lessons were hard at the beginning but now, it is great!

; Name: STEPHANIE PARTINGTON ; Occupation: Teacher at IML Kids! Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, Logopeda having worked for the last 7 years for the UK government. Registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, London

; Place of Birth: I was born in Derbyshire, UK. ; Favourite Place: I don´t have a specific favourite place, but I like a place where I can be surrounded by nice company, good food and of course a glass of wine!

; Sports: In my younger days I played a lot of sports, including county level hockey and athletics, but now with my young son, I keep fit by running around after him. I occasionally get out for a run when he allows me.

; Favourite English dish: Roast dinner, consisting of roasted meat, boiled vegetables, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy.

; Favourite thing about teaching: The kids!! There is never a dull moment when there are kids around. I just love this job!

Stephanie arrived in Granada earlier this year with her Spanish husband and her young son. She was previously working as a Speech and Language Therapist for the National Health Service in the UK, working into the North East´s nurseries, schools and hospitals. She is now focusing on teaching English as a second language for very early learners.

IML KIDS fired off a new academic term of afternoon classes on September 17.

Our second locale specializes in classes for children between 3 and 9 years old at the Beginners, Starters, and Movers levels. This year we are better equipped and more fully staffed than ever and are therefore able to of-fer substantial amount of individual support to each student. Our goal at IML Kids is to prepare our students for the Cambridge Young Learners levels, while guiding them towards an overall level of fluency.

At IML Kids, we strive to instill the children with a sense of enthusiasm and motivation, which are essential elements to having success with the language. To achieve this, we use a variety of games, stories, plays, and songs to really get the students involved.

We focus on speaking and listening activities because our main goal is for the children to be able to communicate fluently.

We would remind parents, however, that learning a second language is a process that takes years of ded-ication and consistency, and each child will naturally develop at his or her own pace. That being said, we teachers are so proud of the progress that our pupils have made in just a month and a half! It is so fun to see students who may have started out a bit shy and nervous to really come out of their shells- not only participating but also really enjoying themselves!

We have high expectations for this academic year as it has gotten off to a fantastic start!

¡DESPEGAMOS EN FRAY LUIS! “THE LAUNCH” Lunes, 4 de Febrero......¡aquí estamos y con muchas ganas! ¿Lo que queremos? ¡Pasar el examen de In-glés!! ¿Lo que quiere la profesora? ¡Que lo aprueben bien!

“Bienvenidos chicos”, les dije...”Vamos a jugar con una pelota con frases: I’m/my name is.... y pasarla a otro alumno”. Presentamos y conocemos un poco mas de

una manera fácil y agradable. Así empezó todo y cada semana vienen más alumnos, con ganas, con motivación....a finales de Febrero ya teniamos las clases: PET1, PET2, PET Exam y FCE (First) ¡con 40 alumnos!

Fray Luis es un instituto con un nivel alto, profesional, serio con sus estudiantes que están ansiosos por estudiar para hacer sus deseos realidad en el futuro. Además es un instituto divertido con sus clases de musica, baile (¡breakdance!) y teatro.

Para mi como profesora una alegria para dar clases. Lo más importante en mi clase es que lo hago de una manera divertida, pero seria, y ordenada, con lógica y con calidad. Intento combinar mi manera creativa con profesionalidad y buena energia. Así es más facíl para aprender más y entender otro idioma con alegría.

q What do you do in class?We learn English in a different way than we do normally in class. We play, listen to music in English.

q What do you like the most in your class?Listening to music and then translate the song and learn what´s it about and learn new vocabulary.

q What about your teacher?She´s a very good teachter and very nice. Now English is fun and easy for us to learn. Also the other students are friendly and we help eachother with our English every week.

CONFERENCIA CENTENARIO CAMBRIDGE EN ALCALA DE HENARESLa conferencia del centenario de Cambridge tuvo lugar el pasado 2 de Febrero en Alcalá de Henares. La “Opening Ceremony” se celebró en el Paraninfo (lugar donde se entregan los premios Cervantes), como corresponde a un evento de esta envergadura. A la misma asistieron el Embajador de Reino Unido en España y el rector de la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares.

La conferencia del Centenario, por su parte, tuvo lugar en el Parador de Acalá. Como principal novedad, podemos destacar el anuncio de Nigel Pike en su sesión, que avanzó que los YLE pronto podrán optar a una versión por ordenador de sus examenes. ¡Probablemente en tablets! Además, con su centenario Cambridge ESOL estrena nuevo logo, y nuevo nombre. Ahora somos
