Online Lecture: Lingual orthodontics - treatment of open bite and surgical treatment
Online presence from 3-4pm Central European Time (= GMT+1, www.greenwichmeantime.com) Mrs. Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. dent. Ariane Hohoff According to different publications (Geron 2004, Fillion 1997) lingual braces seem to be especially advantageous in open bite treatment due to their tongue grid effect. Respective cases (treated conservatively or with orthognathic surgery) will be shown during the lecture, possible pitfalls (especially in combination with palatal expansion (rapid or surgically assisted)) and requirements for preparation of the dental arches prior to surgery will be demonstrated. Average surgical limits will be given as well.

Online presence from 3-4pm Central European Time (= GMT+1, www.greenwichmeantime.com) Mrs. Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. dent. Ariane Hohoff Treatment of patients with special needs might differ from that of non-disabled patients: This is true for extraction decisions, choice of the appliances (the lecturer prefers non compliance mechanics) and also for the treatment results that are to be expected. Treatment sequences of non surgically treated patients with CP and AS and also of surgically treated patients with AS und CS will be shown during the lecture and compared to cases given in literature.
