the so-called traditional garden can't be the mainstream of Chinese style,

nor is relatively European-style replaced by pure English or french style.

Instead, a hybrid design is gathering momentum and yet to come, that the

montage style with sophisticated content creates fashion and mainstream

of space, and the east and the west, the ancient and the contemporary, and

the individual and the family, are in place in intersected space but still

maintain their own existence, not blindly pursuing the so-called fashion

but wrapped in different totems just to demonstrate self loyalty and bring

people confidence and pride at the same time.

usually impacting the world with frequent top designers, Mr. Zhang

Qingping also gained confidence and surprises through the project of

"the Oriental Crown" that blends cultural essence of the east and the

west, admitting hundreds of rivers like sea, of which detailed treatment

is impregnated with professional demeanor only exclusive to masters,

abundant but appropriately.

Zhang Qingping quoted, "the construction of overall style of 'the Oriental

Crown' is destined to appear global texture, or so to create a project

looked very oriental in the view of the people from the west and vise versa.

Much to the point, on sight matures feel nostalgic while young people feel

fashionable. "

Chinese style has been gathering momentum around the world, already

forming a unique fashion. a fashion show held in Cairo, Egypt ever

took Chinese clothing as its spirit representative. Chinese style can also

be simplified into architectural function. apart from the expression of

tolerance and extensibility, the upholster is very important as well, like

decorations of a cheongsam or an embroidered silk picture in a corner or

wall that allows space to present traditional and modern, not contradictory

but harmonious to bring out a unique nature. simple hand-embroidered

hand pillows highlight a kind of romantic mystery, which together with

window screens are displayed with an easy and leisure principle. the usual

rigid and formal impression of the Chinese style immediately becomes

amiable a lot. these attributes can be found and revealed in this project.

according to Zhang Qingping, "Oriental Crown emotionally combines the

old foreign concessions of shanghai and new elements of Western. It's here

that you seem to be flying into future."

actually, here is a place combining western furniture and oriental space

elements, luxurious but sort of retro, but a place the transition of the old

shanghai concession era becomes more mature restrained texture as years

fly, and a place that goes forward with time, a place that represents daily

life of french men of letters and Broadway.

Mr. Zhang Qingping said, "the essence of montage approach is not to

distract, but to bring out the most proud Chinese, so old souls can be

perceived in the space with the hope of bringing new hope to new fashion,

and the owners can share the sense of fulfillment with people around."

along the line presents its elegance. Window grille totem in Chinese style

set off the elegant and exquisite, which accompanied with tea mirror,

extends totem images. Multi-layered ceiling symbolize the character of

official residence "growing up and prospering"; Cloakroom, the cloud-

shaped display racks is a symbol of good luck while wallpaper of flowers

implies an auspicious spring.

Corridor bridges all lines, a large collection of artworks that's designed

on the concept of Western art, gallery and taste of Chinese corridor. the

screen of red peony blossoming presents a strong visual effect. the top of

the multi-layered ceiling is decorated with mirror of traditional bat totem,

a symbol of blue sky, longevity and strings of crystal indicate good fortune

and treasure.

In the open living room, the ceiling in back-to-front shape that originates

from hui (a Chinese character symbolizing money) and three-dimensional

thick wall of large peony form a visual cohesion, pointing out the extreme

elegance of Eastern humanities. Pattern planning stands in the space

center, looking extraordinary amplifier and strategizing the great tolerance

with its physical advantages, barrier-free dinning room, study, corridor

and outdoor landscape as an extension. Elegant marble columns define

the living room and the dining room while the round ceiling with furniture

creates a relaxing dining atmosphere conveying meaning of completeness

and reunion.

atmosphere in the study can be said a Chinese version of french art

salons. Modeling integrates western culture into Chinese style; when the

gorgeous and decorative inherent in European-style modern furniture is

deliberately reduced, profound dark bookcase is used to add China's subtle

artistic conception out of the ordinary.

the main bedroom features the curved main wall, whose rich layers

brings out an embracing warm. the simple and pure space looks changing

resplendent white with abundant stretch fabric and furniture of fine lines

that makes the room filled with elegant retro atmosphere and classic

Broadway-like fashion.

the daughter room is impregnated with laser engraved images of flowers

in full bloom, where curved main wall of indirect built-in light sets off

the theme of silky feeling. Meanwhile the room for son is designed with a

contemporary theme, where double glass totems on the main wall make

strong visual dislocation, expanding space and highlighting the texture.

the room for elders continues the theme of old shanghai. Red wallpaper

style is prominent, low-key lighting, antique furniture, Chinese totem

enlarged to serve as wardrobe. Every corner here is like a movie scene

where stunning European-style mixes with the old shanghai flavour. If the

resurrection of the old shanghai of 20-30s would find a good place, the

Oriental Crown is here awaiting.

for the successful entrepreneurs, here is ideal. the pattern of the heaven

is square and the earth is square. It is a good place for three generations to

live under one roof, where they can take care of each other but still remain

independent, a good enjoyment to appreciate family happiness.

as the most high-end residence, the luxurious mansion is, as a matter

of fact, a representative of the highest level of residential building

development and design in a country or a region, and also an epitome of

elite lifestyle. Its existence is certainly to have its importance and necessity.

luxurious housing was historically rare. as is evidenced, any luxurious

housing is in the pursuit of extreme comfort, luxury and show distinctive

design features. Compared with ordinary mansion, this project is a custom

top luxury with facade, internal design and furniture carefully and skillfully

integrated. and many details have undertaken artistic and specialized

treatment.

the main entry: magnificent

the corridor there gives the space manners similar to public buildings, not

only echoing with the main building volume, but making the whole grand

style unperceivable and more prominent. spaces of living and banquet are

strung together while spaces open to the external are united. separation

effect open and private is naturally created.

the sitting room: unconventional

the living room, more perhaps than others, is a larger space of the same

kind, for it combines the odeion, the sitting area, the wine tasting area and

the parlor area. Its unconventional appearance and its changing wealth

are up to set off the distinguished personality. the traditional square living

room is given up; with parts of the corners incorporated, the external shape

and turnings are rich in sculptural sense and a number of internal spaces

different in height come into being, lively and full of fun. landing windows

take good views into the drawing room, real and vivid to cast mottled

shadows on walls. the overall is very sculptural. Especially the pure and

transparent glass looks like shining crystal in the sun. a style quite unlike

that of traditional mansions is thus generated.

the master bedroom: luxurious

In terms of exclusive privacy, space here is the most important of all

function spaces. separate lockers and bathrooms for the couple well meet

different demands. additionally, study, large dressing room, and gym are

available. the distribution ratio of sleeping, dressing, and bathing are

significantly large-scaled.

Rooms for families and guests: independent

separation of the families and guests rooms shows the honorable and

respectable. Mutual interference is avoided, but both maintain their own

lines and perfect facilities. the guest spaces are surprising equipped with

smaller parlor, living room and kitchen to form a unit torn off from the main

body. transition spaces, rather like courtyard or cloister, however, bridge

the guest spaces to the main body.

lines: complex and dense

this project features a rigorously symmetrical layout. Because of the

numerous functions and enormous rooms, lines are thus complex and

dense. the family, the guests and the servants get access along different

roads. all functional spaces, including the living room, the dining

room, and the breakfast room are integrated into order, meanwhile, a

good specialization is naturally made. as consequence, the connection

between different living spaces gets convenient with relative independence

maintained, and spatial interest is upgraded.

Materials: particularly-selective

the wide selections of materials are bound to make an interior of

ingenuity, like timber embellishing wall, and stone of distinctive regional

characteristics on ground. the mixture is cordial and harmonious; the stone

contrast, naturally crude and slightly is appealing, and the marble texture

is especially set off with the aid of large areas of glass, which is easy and

convenient to get daylight and ventilate. When the spatial scale is pleasant,

rustic-charming, it's humane and full of personality.

Jumping thinking boasts Tien Fun a spectacular structure. As is

quoted, Mr. Zhang Qingping, CEO of tien fun, has always said,

"When no longer confined to function, design thinking can become

active. Installation art and aesthetic value can form a solid basis for

design, making the space the best expression of living aesthetics of

occupants. "

according to Zhang Qingping, space value lies in the expression of

coordination by life and humanity. the sample house in taizhong

is a perfect combination of oriental charm and neo-classical

European style. No restrictions on style, the design brings forward

richness for life; a luxurious mansion is no longer an expensive

accumulation, but an aesthetic style or an attitude to life by cultural

heritage and life.

the red Chinese shoe cabinet in the Genkan attracts your attention;

the corridor would strike you with the embellishing series of

chandeliers once the door is opened; these glass and stainless

Chinese palace lamps and by the glass and laser-cut. dark brown

situated on both ends of the corridor, spaces of the living room

and the dining room are segmented with transparent screen coated

of the screen is embellished and decorated with some patterns;

the reading room also functions as a gallery. While the balcony with the

southern Zen sense keeps away disturbance, allowing a peaceful state of

mind.

the balcony is actually a space of southern Zen, keeping people away from

urban annoyance, but in leisure.

throughout the whole space, a good significance is laid on spatial nature

and detail. Magnificent but still simple, the nature of wheat from the chaff

is really as rare as seen in spaces.

a sPace of fashion the royal garden accomPlishes in a gloBal view

In one striking and perhaps trend-setting case, a home furnishings

distributor, Yanfull Co., ltd. of shanghai, has taken matters into its own

hands and is developing a major new housing complex, Royal Garden, that

will be defined—from its outdoor amenities to the interiors of every single

residence—entirely by cutting-edge Italian design. Each of Royal Garden's

approximately 3500 apartment and townhouse units, ranging from 100 to

300 square metres in floor area, will come fully decorated and furnished

with products from some of the biggest names in the industry, all under the

oversight of the project's creative director, Mauro lipparini.

In broad terms, the complex consists of two contrasting building formats:

some buildings extend along a horizontal axis, while others extend upwards,

vertically; in essence, a series of perpendicular "straight lines" play off each

other. In addition, the taller buildings, at different, staggered heights, create

a strong diagonal skyline. together, these two formats confer a varied feel, a

three-dimensional perspective freeing the overall design from cumbersome,

uninvitingly massive overtones. Just as important, the residential structures

are closely integrated with surrounding park space—manicured lawns,

trees, reflecting pools, other water features—the constructed areas blending

seamlessly with the project's natural areas. the idea is to create a "residential

oasis", an environment where the resident's sense of privacy is paramount,

yet one in which the establishment of a community, founded on principles of

well-being and relaxation, is also possible.

Page 60: Image China

the townhouses will be outfitted as high-end villas, complete with private entrances and

individual garages. In addition to the exclusive character visible in the architecture, the

interiors are customized according to the most discriminating interior decorating plans.

the taller buildings, 10 to 16 stories in height, will have a mix of one-, two-, and three-

story residential units culminating in extraordinary penthouse apartments that will feature

360-degree views of the surrounding shanghai plains and skyline.

Royal Garden project is identified with four different thematic styles, or "interior

formats"; each of these four distinct interiors have been stylized according to four

different lifestyle identities—appealing to differing tastes, customs, and cultural affinities,

defined as follows: "Mature & Comfortable", "Contemporary", "light Minimalist", and

"trendy".

the practice of coordinating materials, colours, and optional features has become

something of a science. In the realm of domestic design, this more philosophical

approach, is now applied not just to fix interior elements—walls and flooring—but also to

furniture.

for an accomplishment, name brands have been selected from the world-leading Italian

furniture companies: antonio lupi, armani, B&B, Boffi, Elam, Euromobil, flexform,

Misura Emme, Paola lenti, Poliform, Porro, solzi luce, tisettanta, Zanotta. Each product

has been carefully selected to fit with the applicable interior format.

the bedrooms have been designed to offer more than just a place to sleep, rendering this

environment less sleep-specific. the bed systems can be utilized as platforms, allowing

their users to expand how and extend how long they spend time in the bedroom, making

it a more flexible, less sleep-specific environment.

the bathrooms, on the other hand, have been designed following a more articulated sense

Page 63: Image China

062

Page 64: Image China

063

of space where ritualistic forms of bathing and pampering can be exercised. asian

cultures have traditionally used water in bathing ceremonies in a much more ritualistic

fashion than Westerners.

the living rooms represent a kind of domestic theater where the sofas create a piazza-

like sensation allowing one to live and interact with family and guests in a space that

encourages a sense of total freedom. the living room has been transformed into a

convivial environment of both social pleasures and culture.

the bookshelves look out onto the expanses of green through the large glass windows

with magical transparency—as if the outside were trying to penetrate the inside and

vice versa.

the kitchen has been designed to offer opportunities far beyond those of simply a

functional working environment, turning it into a studio where a cultish devotion to

food can be experienced.

the dining room is transformed, by means of its design, into an arena newly—or, from

a longer view, classically—inviting of social interaction, one where "sitting at the

table" takes on an entirely new significance.

homes will be experienced as both up-to-date and as friendly and harmonious by

their inhabitants. In cities, as in homes, there are useful and useless things both

symbolic and intimate; it is the sum of these things that make space either rich

in content, or simple containers of more or less beautiful things, whether ugly or

fashionable. the challenge is to design homes with meaning, implementing innovative

solutions in a humane fashion. from the exploration of these challenges, inevitably has

come up with new ideas for the Royal Garden project.

the memory made By time

Complex decoration, has nothing to do with taste, and a building with

carved and painted beams or columns, has little to do with comfort. But,

without taste, a mansion would not live up to its name, and without the basis

of luxury and function, a beautiful decoration can only be meaningless prop.

Mansion, to its occupants, is the accumulation of their life experiences,

habits, aesthetics, and dreams. Only when all are integrated perfectly, can

a mansion be a harbour that deserves expectation.

this space is designed simple and magnificent, with oriental culture

implanted with modern techniques, showing a wide, easy and natural

elegance.

this villa is also high for the advantages of space are maximized. the living

room, the study and the bedroom are equipped with wood frame ceiling.

the raised vision is reminiscent of those ancient main rooms of those well-

known rich families, whose high-wide space was warm in winter while cool

in summer.

as is evidenced, the Chinese-style design is interpreted simple, modern,

and magnificent. the entrance, the pond, and the three stone plates make

an artistic image of small bridges across little streams. around the stairs in

the living room is stone garden by white gravels, light and cool. the huge

living room is air without columns to partition, but two french Windows to

in the middle, confident and tolerant.

It is the usual practice that, Chinese culture has always been stressing the

harmony of man and nature in one, the most comfortable way of life. as the

space goes, wood, the most primitive plant, makes life full of texture and

natural taste. the walls are wooden, and this goes true of ceilings, beds,

basin in the toilet. and the carved wooden cabinet, thick and subtle, looks

more layered.and the carved wooden cabinet, thick and subtle, looks more

the low-reaches of yangzi river, and the interPretation of shanghai culture

the fifth shanghai vanke Blue Mountain is designed like a theater stage,

which assumes the responsibilities to promote high-end sales and conduct

reception. as is expected, the extravagance is implanted into the artistic

concept of the Chinese style to interpret the oriental art with gorgeous

elements.

Its physical environment is a shrine which was built hundreds of years ago

and removed from anhui province. lotus leaves, fishing boats, and moon

shadow are employed to make the image of the low-reaches of Yangzi

River and the charming of shanghai.

at the entrance is square array of four columns of stone lions to welcome

visitors and to safeguard the internal place. the old building mounted in

the modern living environment as if to make to a time tunnel for visitors to

taste traditional architectural culture.

the partition is based on the functional requirements. the carrier of

the old house provides visitors a wonderful purchase and hospitality

experience.

the two-floor space is hollowed-out in the middle to bring out the

imposing style out of the old shrine. a gorgeous chandelier hangs down

from the ceiling of hui architecture that the four sides are higher than

the central, whose green shade and the lotus leaf device on the screen

correspond to each other, reflecting the eclectic shanghai culture the of

the east and the western.

the great application of copper ornaments highlights the Chinese-style

extravagance; the stairs of hollowed-out auspicious clouds try to hide the

noble; the lEd beads make the dark green carpet even more gorgeous.

and the bamboo flooring, the quartzite rock, and the green stone of

photopermeability make a special ground.

the vIP room wall is a whole piece of natural stone named: mountain-water white;

and the ground is a new material called ink-water bamboo, from which comes out an

image of low-reaches of Yangzi River, adding an elegant temperament.

Both sides of the ancient shrine are arranged with symmetrical wooden poles, which

boast a quiet dignified atmosphere. the modern silver metal coffee table, and the red

simplified garden stool, are flaunting with personality. the Chinese carved narrow

table and bookcase and the western riveted leather sofa and green

stained glass floor lamp coexist in harmony. While blending

and communicating, the eastern and the western, the modern

and the ancient, seem contradictory, but tolerate and integrate,

culminating a unique, which comes unforgettable.

firmly established new visual, conceptual and creative benchmarks for

interior design, the Water Courtyard specifically focuses on water and

the way of living adapting water's states – stillness, freshness and clear

nature.

Inspired by "si he Yuan", a traditional Chinese style of a compound

with houses around a square courtyard, the key design concept employs

a relaxing swimming pool as a courtyard to re-organize the positions of

various lavish living components by its sides, ranging from leisure area,

reading room, gym, dining room, living room to bedrooms.

the concept of water offers an encompassing view of the link between

water and living spaces which adapts the characteristic of water that can

be free enough to move around each other. the living arrangement seems

to be isolated in different rooms located on two storeys, but the extensive

use of large windows lets the activities be visually connected, reveal living

habitants behind them and relate to dispersed rooms, shortening the

distance between human in a spacious residence.

Each deck built in each living component is carefully designed to allow

certain spatial continuity and integrate the quality of transcendence,

providing a delightful living environment and a new vision of modern

luxurious living in the Water Courtyard.

green and fine Pine trees welcoming the guests; rocks, Bright moon create a tranquil and Peaceful atmosPhere

the house was located in the north as far as it can be for a big sunny

yard in the south. the guest house was located in the south so that the

restaurants and motels are not seen from the yard. the guest house was

built as if it were the fence to be located as far as it can be in the south.

It looks like it was put inside the thick fence. to view the river from the

yard and the guest house, the main building was leveled up to be a pilot.

the roof of the main building was made as a plain roof and there is a

roof garden in which people can overlook the river from high level. as a

result, the river is viewed from every part of the house.

to make the house look as big as possible, a one metre wide balcony

made of the same materials as the main building was built at its four

sides. the regulation defines that a balcony with one metre width is not

included in total floor area. By doing so, the interior looks as if it keeps

expanding when it is seen from inside the building. also, since all the

buildings were lifted from the floor for one floor's height, the pilot's space

could be more expanded. Not to make the pilot's look big-headed like most

pilots' space with small and minimal columns, the columns were made

thicker than necessary and a waterspout was installed inside to make the

first floor look like a heavy rock. Black concrete was used for a magnificent

style, creating the feeling of tiles used in traditional Korean-style houses.

As a result, the house created an image which is similar to the Korean-

style restaurant of the clients.

the plan can be described as the "space within space". the service space,

such as a bathroom, a dress room, and a kitchen, was concentrated in the

Page 118: Image China

117

Page 119: Image China

118

Page 120: Image China

119

middle and compactly distributed, and a bedroom was placed in the east, a

living room in the west, and a corridor in the outskirts. to make people in

the house feel the space bigger than real, a circular traffic line was adopted

instead of one main traffic line. the circular traffic line was made with a

minimum width to differentiate the intensity of space, but the space does

not look small because the traffic line extends to visually meet the terrace.

since the stairs that lead to the roof were made as if they were inserted to the

second floor, the staircase does not protrude on the roof. the staircase itself

plays a role as a well of light, transmitting light to the middle level of the

house.

architecture is to design relationship. there are three kinds of relationships:

physical relationship, visual relationship, and psychological relationship.

In this house, these kinds of relationships were created through traditional

"rooms", such as living room, bedroom, roof, staircase, kitchen, or bathroom.

for example, the study room and the kitchen were divided by a staircase but

connected through a small window. the bathroom was connected to the sky

through the window at the top and connected to the staircase that leads to

the roof at the third floor through the window. also, a person can look at the

river through the study room while he/she is taking a shower or bath. In the

living room, there are same-sized windows at the top and bottom to provide

a wormhole-like feeling to the parallel structure. through this mechanism,

a visual relationship was formed at each floor. the windows and doors here

and there were devised to create more various relationships in the simple

mass-shaped house.

If you would like to live a really secluded life, even a city can be a good

place, and it's unnecessary to look for a paradise elsewhere. life is Zen and

the home is the place for soul to return to.

the ethereal wealth and the warm home atmosphere hang in the air. almost

all traditional Chinese household modeling: Rohan bed, armchair, wood

carving, cornices seven drawers, and flower-bird dining tables and chairs.

thanks to the pure white, out comes the refined elegance; and thanks to the

orchid, out flows the refreshing.

such a space and such an atmosphere would first strike with a quiet and

tranquil refuge. all of the household furnishings are low-key but luxurious.

If you are a person with high aspirations and determination, you will hear

flowers are murmuring and birds are singing with a Zen heart.

the Bank of the low-reaches of the yangzi river is greened By the sPring Breeze, while the sPace is made unique By the art Blend

this project has been focusing on the integration of the Chinese tradition

and the modern sense. the tone of white and dark wood lives up to

the expectation. the independent villa courtyard is very novel, and the

courtyard entrance makes life more enjoyable. the flowing connectivity

between the courtyard and the sunken garden increases a strong spatial

sense and eliminates the rigid of the reinforced concrete. the facade is full

of western fashion, while the courtyard traditional Chinese elements. a

perfect combination of Chinese and Western cultures here makes.

the 1st floor harbours the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and

the guest bedroom. the living room is refined and elegant, where light-

coloured wallpaper and high space with modern Chinese furniture are

combined perfect, adding space textures and leading people into a world

of luxury. the most concise of lines of facade and ceiling unify the living

room, the dining room and the kitchen. thanks to the collocation of colours

and accessories, the space becomes fashion, creating an elegant and

delicate style. a certain auxiliary light source in the living room brings out

the extraordinary out of the space with the changing light and shadow. the

modern Chinese style reflects a unique charm. Everywhere are modern

Chinese design elements, which confiding in a more harmonious feeling

while melting and communicating. the dining room is a continuation of

the new Chinese style. the round dining table matches very well with the

chandelier, whose modern texture make the space here more beautiful.

from furniture to door and to cabinet, there remains a familiar rhyme.

In the centre is certainly the dining room, imposing and dignifying. the

gradevin against the wall and the traditional Chinese floor lamp, make a

harmonious coexistence of stone sculptures of different shapes.

the basement is designed lively and vividly, with vivacious accessories

making the whole space full of vigor and vitality. there sits the painting

room, sPa, and the sauna room, which seems to be highlighting the

basement space, and whose theme is made up of matt beige sandstone and

stained rattan veneer.

the 2nd floor is mainly occupied by two guest bedrooms while the 3rd

by the master bedroom and the study. the guest bedrooms is of neo-

classical style, where soft light makes the whole space look solemn yet

gentle, graceful but still warm. different bedrooms enjoy similar bedding;

accessories are simpler; the absence of luxurious decoration, fluently

expresses the essence of the traditional culture; the elaborate lighting and

the elegant decorative painting add a bit of warmth to the bedroom, and out

of archaic rhyme in the whole sleeping space comes a little modern sense.

Guzheng playing (Guzheng, a 21-or 25-stringed plucked instrument),

tea drinking, brushing-writing and painting are Chinese classical self-

cultivation methods, and the study here is thereby destined to reflect the

traditional Chinese cultural identity. as it is, home is not only a respite

place, but also a place to receive guests and friends. In a metropolis today,

a high quality of life has gradually become a pursuit for the majority of

people. and this project is bound to guide and lead a new trend, a new

fashion with its new Chinese luxury and noble quality of the simple style.

In this space, concepts applied are modern, colours are bold, and traditional

Chinese furniture is integrated. the inherently dull of Chinese home is

broken, which makes it present happiness, warmness, and stylishness,

while maintaining the spirit of Chinese culture, thereby making it popular

among young urban groups.

furniture and accessories are exquisite. different materials and colours

make the space of Chinese style retain their own characteristics, resulting

in a wealth of changes. armchairs, white tea table, carpet and blue sofa

coexist in the living room party. several Chinese ink paintings are on the

backdrop. a traditional arch which is usually employed in gardening is

carefully and implicitly framed with wood on the mirror tv wall. two

wooden fences bridge the living room and the balcony. all make here

typically Chinese and fashion. the fabric chairs wrapped in flower patterns

echo with the grid display racks standing at the dining table.

Because the space is not large, furniture is naturally simple and modern.

the creation of Chinese style is largely assumed by furnishings and

upholstering. and decorations of Chinese red are essential. tea wares in

rows and improved traditional lamps and lanterns, tell of a deep intimate

feelings. the memory of China's culture is interpreted in an eastern

approach. and a few paintings of contemporary Chinese art are specially

the project is an accomplished result of conditions: no interference but

with complete design freedom, or a good success in line with the owner's

requirement for eastern image. all design details large or small are very

satisfying, and guarantee the best final!

a person who is wise knows how to do things; similarly, a person of wisdom

knows what to do in the face of temptation. though actually creators, owners

who know to grant designers design freedom can be the ultimate beneficiary.

the neo-Chinese house, like a traditional Chinese painting, inherits the

simple but leaves out the cumbersome. the ground at the entrance is

of simple brick collage; shoes-changing chairs of lohan bed, are both

as walls; the partition wall between the living room and the dining

room is built-in with black ink fire board; across the wooden pillar

grill are neo-Chinese dining chairs of rosewood. the furniture

of choice without sophisticated treatment is tough and keeps the

magnificence exclusive to the rosewood.

With Chinese flavour, neo-Chinese can still be committed to

simplify and adapt to the modern taste for fashion.

the beauty position in the space can not be touched in terms of the virtual

the words of texture and leisure can be the description for the living room.

the antique solid wood table, together with the helical lighting, makes the

space full of family warmth with a kind of looming halo.

the dining room would first be impressive with its striking original quaint,

eco-atmosphere. the special beauty of southeast asia and the graceful

magnificence of China make a space casual but filled with humane

qualities. the Chinese solid wood furniture brings out an eco-sense; the

lCd tv is built in a retro masonry wall. the flooring is of Marco Polo

tiles. amorous feelings of different countries are available in harmony. the

natural simplicity leaves out the beauty that accumulates in the eye, and

avoids the complex of gold or silver. there naturally exists an incomparable

the design of the living room and the dining paradise is kind of original, just like that of a paradise. the bedroom is dream-

like; the purple of the whole space instantly captures your attention, purple ceilings, purple walls, purple bed, and even

the sunlight is reflected purple. this unique design not only implies the owner's unique philosophy of life, but also shows

an individual attitude towards life. actually, however, nothing changes except for the spatial role that has been adapting to

functions of different periods.

design tricks lie in both the usual strength and the details. this especially goes true of study. small boat-like bookcases

stand side by side, practical and decorative; the bamboo decorated ceiling is of natural fun; the leisure couch is carved. When

strong retro feelings can be available, a pure reading fun, with proper music sounding but without mind to be disturbed can

be gotten.

a personal fashion house it is. We say it's conservative for the efforts made on the creation of traditional Oriental culture;

we say it is fashion, for the very distinctive attitude towards life of the occupants everywhere. In such a limited space, it's

surprising that original cultures of various kinds can cluster together and penetrate mutually. and a lively home is thus made.

Colours of the teak flooring remain not the same, sometimes light and

grace Beyond age

living in metropolis, modern hearts are spoiled in bustling and hustling

vanity. Can we, living in modern age, regain the grace and romance of

an uncontrolled and detached style liven by ancient people? We need to

have novel, but still Chinese, style and quality housing in the concrete

surrounded town area, so that we may enjoy the quiet reunion with family,

in the space featuring Chinese styles, and images, so that we may relax

ourselves and enjoy tastes, of life as it should be.

Model housing of Jade Lake Bay (Yu Hu Wan), a development in central

zone of Bao'an, proves such a new style Chinese house basing on fine

works of the designers. Classics of oriental elements are found incorporated

in trendy approaches of designing, and ancient in modern, exhibiting the

designing aspiration of expressing images of eastern cultures with the

language of modern designers.

Original layout is reconstructed over the old building. Previous partitions

between the kitchen and the porch, the reception-room and the kitchen,

and between the studio and the hallway, were taken away, to make the

space look larger and more integrated. Kitchen and studio are designed

Page 234: Image China

to be in open style, while the transparent glass behind the sofa in the

reception room, and Chinese style partition in the kitchen provide invisible

separations, but in function enrich arrangements in space. and the use

of mirror faced designs renders interior space more transparent. the

Chinese elements are seen visible anywhere, including the auspicious

cloud patterns over the solid sculpture on reception-room partition, the

ancient-style armchair, the Chinese style ground lamp full of grace, the

unique designs of wood sculpture works over the video wall and dinner

hall wallings, and the tea pot and tea bowls so typical of ancient flavour

on the teatable, all showcasing the sentiments and nostalgia over the ages.

Materials are adopted for the ancient tastes as well. the noble grade cream

stone flooring, the stable black sanders, the elegant Chinese style wallpaper,

and the simplified ceiling surface, again define the base tone of space and,

the dots of red, and green, make the colour arrangements varied and full

of changes. trendy materials combine in the hands of designers to provide

ancient grace, and Chinese elements and symbols are treated in modern

approaches, while understanding and insights over cultures are expressed in

most updated language of the designers.

steps in the master's bedroom, and past the open style washroom, is the

background wall with patterns symmetrical and balanced. Customer

tailored silk and hand-embroidered bird & flower wallpaper tells beautiful

stories over the ancient age southern Yangtze River regions. and the

lanterns over the sides with maple leaves on, while the red bedstand

presents an eyecatch in space. the birds, the flowers, the natural scenes,

combine to render the life of pleasure. the cozy air, the graceful image,

reward the houseowner a sweet dream on the ancient design bed, with

splendid patterns on pillows, after a day's work and burdens.

the simple design washroom with finely arranged lines of mild white

marble exhibits full dignity and noble taste. the Chinese style decorations

moderately rendered provide last elements for integration of styles. designs

of the elder's bedroom show rigid scale along with highest degree of

comfort, and prove stable in space on scale, simple yet never losing any feel

of grace.

landison longjing Resort is one of the limited-service resorts managed by

it is filled of village scenery. hotel is not big, 56 rooms, 6642 square metres,

renovation cost about 1,200 yuan, an economic budget hotel. designed to

be very careful on the use of the material, select some cheap material, made

in the texture of the surface article, open paint timber with handle, antique

stone is processed into a surface, such a treatment in line with the feeling of

leisure.

the hotel design is part of the asian style. the restaurant is designed into

Chinese style, the rest is Balinese style. the furniture in the rooms is also a

mix of Chinese and Balinese. the hotel is characterized by the construction

of additional space. the middle of the lobby entrance connects originally

two buildings, it has been connected between the two spaces and transition,

and it also enriched the lobby space. the concept of the lobby space is

based on the concept of villa living room design. fireplace here is a warm

island; casual placed furniture making a home feeling; the atrium turned

out to be the open air with a glass roof, it is the hotel's living room. the

hollow space of the third floor enriches the flat original space. It contrasts

finely with the bar.

this type of hotel rooms is focus on the basis of number, while changing the

room style to meet the needs of different customers. the bathroom layout

is also designed to cater the guests as far as possible. the hotel's design

is an interesting practice, more than 10 million of investment has made a

hotel of 1,000 yuan one night room price. I think the geography resource is

very important for determining the price. Of course, the courage is highly

essential.

the meeting of east and Paris makes a leisure residence

When the spirit of oriental tradition and the modern of western life sparkle

in the collision, an underlying aesthetic and cultural mood is interpreted.

the whole space of 3 floors with an area of about 240 square metres,

measuring 19.8 metres wide, of course makes a broad villa.

the theme of the meeting East and Paris runs through the decor and the

atmosphere creation. a noble and luxurious space is made with a modern

and simple approach to present new classical spirits. detailed decorations

are highlighting the spatial nature. Of every detail the introduction and

depiction have been made perfection. themes of sight, taste, feel, and touch

are interwoven to move soul and heart.

the living room and the tea house

External and internal, the beauty is complex and simple. throughout the

living room are surprises to come: curved landing curtains, transparent

glass doors, furniture, slightly sloping tulips and so on. all are picturesque,

fresh and bright. the hues of white, gold, and yellow tones, give the space

an open, tolerant extraordinary magnanimity, expanding the spatial pattern.

the living room and the bedroom are more legendary and beautiful than

the dining room, the landscape balcony, the kitchen, the life terrace, and

the internal courtyard

art treasures are historical to cultivate human spirit. Both the east and the

west share the same view. four groups of abstract paintings on the west are

impressionistic and rich in fantastic colours, implying a deep understanding

of beauty.

the joy of planting fills the courtyard. the large area takes in the

boundless lakeview. Mottled bamboo is reflected in the pool and on the

wall. Wherever the sun goes, the cozy warmth follows. from the scenery

setting of the southern towns, comes the air of ancient culture. the theme of

"farming" awakens the inner links between the courtyard and the garden,

a good exploration of food culture of Chinese five thousand years, and a

good approach to appreciate the perception of natural law in China's life

philosophy.

the master bedroom

If the abstract sense can be materialized, then it must be contained in the

large space and details.

the master bedroom is in a suite pattern, equipped with private bathroom

and walk-in closet in the master bedroom privacy and comfort. the

traditional techniques of so-called luxury are surprisingly abandoned;

instead, neo-classical bedside lamps are coupled with classic velvet; in

additionally, pen, paper and ink stone are also available. ubiquitous

are the Chinese ink paintings for a successful interpretation of the four

treasures of study that has been going through thick and thin of the

millennium; the wood tables of old camphor material are to start a "Zen" of

the new east. Wisdom and beauty, all are in the details.

When wandering through the landscape, the soul is hit with a sudden

enlightenment, as if exposed to the home warmth. another expression of

emotion it is, also proper and appreciate for the "health care and heart

Chinese sleeping culture is brought out in an ease and comfortable tone.

the study

the spatial decoration is made a solid basis by the volumes of books.

Whether close up or faraway, projects of calligraphy and painting would be

the first to strike.

Works of calligraphy have been since ancient times the treasures in

Chinese art and culture. the wood walls are in Chinese red; the calligraphy

scrolls are impressive; the seat covers are bow-shaped; the table lamps on

right and left are symmetrical; the flooring of the living room are soft and

euroPean elegance and chinese resPlendence

Macao has a long history of Portugal history and a good popularity of Chinese culture. Beneath the hands of hBa, such a background is cleverly integrated

Macau, adjacent to Cotai Expo and venetian Resort & hotel that is the world's largest casino, provides a pleasant secluded holiday environment out of the

Tracie Co, HBA partner from Hong Kong office, is quoted that the newly-completed one is eye-catching and unique as a good blend of the selection of

colourful multi-cultural and historical resources.

the design which is consistent with Portuguese colonial houses, feel elegant with the aid of magnificent furnishings. as Mr. Co said, the lobby lounge,

equipped with fireplace, Portugal lanterns and ceiling fan and flooring covered with bamboo, is quite similar to the living room of a large Portuguese

colonial house; the Chinese lacquer screen which was popular in the eighteenth century reflects the influence on business and design by China mainland.

"Its design is grand with European style; antique furniture, art and Chinese

fabric are elaborately displayed; everywhere hangs an air of subtlety and

elegance", said Paulo dias, a co-designer.

Its appearance takes reference to the colonial magnificent buildings in

Macao, while the interior is designed dwelling-like. the two aspects make

a perfect match. the wall at the rear reception area is one good example,

which originates from the eighteenth century Portuguese blue and white

Dias said, "Just like collectors in the pursuit of antiques for home, we hope

in public space to present surprises for guests, rather like the seventeenth

century Portuguese textiles inlaid with border or Beijing glass vases."

英式闲情融入海派文化

◆ 项目名称:上海绅公馆酒店

◆ 设计师:Julian Coombs

◆ Project Name: lE suN ChINE

◆ Designer: Julian Coombs

British leisure into shanghai culture

this project is a good place to show all around the characteristics

of shanghai culture, a heritage of and a witness to the 1970s, when

history and culture communicated, the East and the West collided,

and asia and Europe integrated.

the year of 1916 was for fang's Garden, while 1932 for sun's

Residence; and the year of 2010 was for lE suN ChINE. as a single

building of the fang's Garden, lE suN ChINE well preserved the

facade of dry wall, a typical style of British villa, and the original

structure and the pattern were particularly maintained. Julian Coombs,

a British designer, with a rich experience in China and southeast

asia, is well versed in asian culture. the art deco popular in the 20-

30s naturally comes out of the paper; the symmetry and harmony is

emphasized, the neutral colours are applied, baroque patterns and

decorations are destined to compliment the design theme: dark colours

with European classical furnishings, and neutral colours of coffee,

beige, and dark blue and to create a cozy atmosphere of a quiet home.

the leisure from Britain and the charm shanghai local lanes and

alleys are perfectly blended. that is the very aesthetics of this project.

a home beyond ideals

the spiral staircase on the right of the lobby has been reserved

authentic. the solid of camphor wood material, carefully crafted and

polished, is consistent with the temperament of that era. at the foot

of the stairs are wardrobe and custom purple hand-made sofa. Its

brooding and reserved style is good for a short break. at the other

side is a pleasant atmosphere, where you can sip a wine that has been

treasured for many years; along the lounge to the right is the reading

room, also the vIP lounge. On a leisure afternoon, a quiet place with a

sense that there is a way that suddenly sprouts out can only be found

in this old house.

the elevator and the corridors are equally quiet. all 24 rooms are in a

hue of blue: racing blue or sky blue is applied in amounts; dark gold

and deongaree are interspersed; Chinese blue-print can be available

sometimes on teaware, or sometimes on wash stand. a quiet space like

this is thus lit up. Continental dressing glass and lighting brings out

the personality out of the peace and tranquility. the beige rooms are

cheerful, delighted and more gentle, where the beige wallpaper is decorated with

red vines; the velvet sofas and the restored European-style fireplace and bathtub

interpret the charm of old shanghai; the bath room is fully open and makes the

whole space broader and brighter. the gold rooms on the 3rd floor are the largest,

whose tone seems more low-key and deeper; each room makes a good place for

chatting and drinking in complete feelings of the 30s in shanghai.

all rooms are endowed with distinct emotional traits. Whether plain or fantastic, all

completely coincides with your different moods. all 24 emotional spaces have fully

retained the old pattern, where most of the furniture, deliberately polished, tells of

a past charm. Incredibly, here is a fully restored "home", comfortable and refined,

somewhat old shanghai, somewhat British and somewhat modern.

a home, also artwork

Everywhere is artistic. Black spaces are intentionally left on the wall of many

rooms. Enough room in cabinets is also made. so artists across the world can

display works. Projects by Xu lixian from taiwan are available here. Mr. Xu's

paintings and sculptures are strongly individual and personalized, full of male

power and compassionate feelings. "Cock fighting" and "dancer" are perfect

combination of strength and beauty. a school he has built up. a genius he is. a

new release of different materials he has given.

the courtyard style follows the naturalness of the wonders. a typical English

garden it is. though small, it's of interest, where vegetation and plants are scattered

at random. the natural growth makes here a masterpiece of nature. lavender, lilac,

rosemary and even Polygonum orientale have been standing on clay pots. such a

natural garden is bound to be a new cleansing for your heart and soul.
