HAPPY JULY 4 TO ALL CO-OWNERS!It has been brought to our attention, that one of the units in one of the other associations, had a problem with a mirror over the fireplace. The mirror dislodged from the wall and came down and did damage. The mirror was glued to the wall and the glue dried out - causing the mirror to fall, when the roofers were working. The co-owners that are having their roofs replaced, might want to check that their mirrors are attached properly.Due to winter damage to shrubs and some trees, we won’t know the extent of damage until we can evaluate the likelihood of recovery. The contract for road repairs has been approved and the work should start around the middle of July. All the co-owners affected by road re-pairs will be notified if access to their drive will be affected.Roof replacements, wood repairs, and painting is being scheduled.Window replacements will begin shortly. Repairs will be done based on severity. We are anticipating a substantial number of window replace-ments. At the last Board meeting, CCV-II has elected to appoint the Meisner Law Group to handle our legal matters. They are known to be one of the best law firms with cond association law.
OUR NEXT MONTHLY BOARD MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR 6 PM, TUESDAY, JULY 29, AT THE CCV CLUBHOUSE.
CCV-IIIHIGHLIGHTS
Pam Westerhold, Secretary
Mr. David Watson has resigned from your CCV-III Board effective June 1st. Dave and his wife, June, will be making Florida their new home. Dave has been on the CCV-III Board for over 15 years. He has had great insight into taking good care of CCV-III from landscaping, catching chip-munks and driving them to a new home, cement work, roofing issues, etc. This Board wishes to thank him for his dedication to this community and we wish him luck in sunny Florida. He and June will be sorely missed by many. The Board has asked Mr. Ronald Wolinski to replace Dave for the bal-ance of his term. Welcome aboard, Ron.As we have been having the roofs replaced, it has come to our attention some dryer vents are full of lint. This can cause fires and it will take your dryers longer to dry a load of laundry. We recommend that you have your vents checked to see that they are clear. We have added a new vendor to our list of Approved Window Companies. New, Pella Series 350® joins Andersen® ,Reliabilt® from Lowe’s, Renewal by Andersen® and Simonton “Vantage Pointe®” from Home Depot. You must submit a Maintenance Request for approval before having windows installed.OUR ANNUAL MEETING HAS BEEN SET FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2014, AT 7 PM AT THE HOLIDAY INN. MORE INFORMATION WILL COME LATER IN THE SUMMER.
OUR NEXT MEETING IS JULY 9, 2014, AT 7 PM AT THE CLUBHOUSE. HOPE YOU CAN ATTEND.
Board members, together with Herriman & Associates, Inc., per-formed a comprehensive review of the CCV-I property this spring. Grounds and buildings were reviewed. Our findings were compiled by Herriman and presented to the board. We have many needs and wants. We have prioritized the needs and will tackle safety and build-ing integrity issues first. At the same time, we will address several major long-term landscaping issues. In addition to the planned wood repair and painting of five homes, our priorities this year include con-crete and masonry repairs and replacements and addressing surface drainage in rear yards. The latter may have to be implemented over several years. We will know the quantity of work that can be com-pleted once we receive competitive bids. Regrettably, many lesser items will be deferred and considered again next year. Tree trimming and pruning and certain tree removals have been com-pleted, as has the clean-up of the west property line.
ALL CCV NEWS
ALL RESIDENTS! PLEASE SLOW DOWN!AS IN ALL RESIDENTIAL
COMMUNITIES, THE SPEED LIMIT IN CCV IS 25 MILES PER HOUR,
whether it is posted or not. Please watch your speed and stop for the children, moms with strollers, walk-ers, pets and wildlife with whom we share in CCV.
BIRD FEEDERS AND BIRD HOUSES ARE DISCOURAGED [In CCV-II, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED]
IF YOU ARE FEEDING THE BIRDS, or OFFERING HOUSING FOR WILDLIFE YOU ARE UPSETTING THE BALANCE OF NATURE
and here’s some reasons why.....
1. Bird feeders draw wildlife and small critters who feed on the ground beneath, and then move in under your deck or steps. 2. Birds leave droppings on your deck, railings, and walk as well as on your neighbors. This is not healthy and may breed disease. 3. Bird seeds root in the ground below feeders and grow WEEDS, and sometimes some nasty thistles that create more problems. If you have a problem with invasive birds, bird droppings, wildlife or small animals, you need to notify your management company.’
If you have a bird feeder or house, kindly remove it.
DON’T FEED BIRDS, SMALL ANIMALS OR DUCKS. THEY ARE NOT PETS AND WILL NATURALLY TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES.

So Fun! CCV’s WATER
EXERCISEWater exercise is underway! We have seen many returning friends, and have met several
of our new neighbors! Welcome everyone! Shirley Nyikon, our energetic instructor, is with us again this year. You really should at least try one of her classes, we get a great workout, and it is FUN! I am sure if you try it, your will be back for more.
This one-hour class starts at 10:00 AM , which is before the pool opens for regular swimming. The pool is heated, so we are able to exercise even if it is a little chilly when we start. If it is 65 degrees or higher and not raining, we WILL exercise. Classes are $5.00 per class on a “pay as you go” basis. We also hold a FREE CLASS on Tuesday using an exercise tape. Same time, lots of fun, no charge but a good workout. Meet people! Have Fun! No swimming required.
You do not need to register, just come to the pool in your swimsuit and be prepared for a good workout and lots of fun with your neigh-bors right here in our beautiful pool. You do not have to know how to swim, in fact, you don’t even have to get your hair wet! Water exercise is very kind to your body, and is great for people who can-not do “land” exercise. Our pool is shallow, plus you get a great TAN!
Why not try a class, and bring your neighbor!Hope to see many of you at the pool! – submitted by Pat Longley 420-1163)

TENNIS/PICKLEBALL COURT UPDATE
If you recall I mentioned last month that GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH WAITING FOR ! Mother Nature gave us a break and the resurfac-ing of our courts was completed. I have received many phone calls and emails about how wonderful both courts look and that the playing surface is great. If you haven’t checked out the new courts, grab your racket and a playing partner and play a game or two. Also, if you want to play pickleball and do not have the equip-ment, just ask the pool attendant and she will loan you the rackets and pickleballs. – Please note – the court closest to the playscape is for tennis only, while the other court is for both tennis and pickleball.PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN IN BEFORE USING THE COURTS. – Pete Zaranek, Recreation Advisor
If you haven’t had an opportunity to check out your listing and a change is required, please let me know at [email protected] or place it in my newspaper slot (39474 Village Run). – by Judy Costigan

Congratulations to Nicole (nee Lesnau) and Derrick Boroski who were married at Wabeek Country Club in Bloomfield Hills on June 14, 2014. Nicole is the daughter of proud mom, Linda Lesnau of Dun Rovin, and a former resident and pool attendant at CCV for many years. They are going to live in West Bloomfield. Many Years of Happiness to you both!!
Congratulations to Johannes and Beatrice Oppel, of Glenview Court, on the birth of their son, Kilian. The baby was born on Thursday June 19th. We are delighted to welcome a new member in our community!
We wish Jim Stratton of Country Knoll Dr. a quick recovery from his broken femur and surgery after he took a fall when up North. Wife Mary drove him back home and he is progressing well, while in rehab for another month. Prayers for renewed health, Jim .
Wishes for a speedy recovery to Millie Battaglia of Village Run, who is having hip surgery this month. She says she will be back delivering the Village Views soon.
We offer our condolences to Caroline Flavo, of Village Run Drive, on the death of her son, Jack. May he rest in peace, and may God’s healing grace help his family.
Sadly we report the death of former resident Dave Ponzi, husband of Fil Ponzi after a long illness. They were one of the first residents in CCV and lived on Glenview Ct. They moved to Canton a few years ago and Fil still has many friends here. Our sympathy to the Ponzi family.

Also, the U.S. flag should not be displayed when the weather is inclement, except when an all-weather flag is displayed.

Join us on Thursday, July 17th as our Foxy Ladies take a mini trip to a new restaurant on Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield called Huerto (pronounced “where toe”) , which means “orchard” in Spanish. It is not your typical Mexican restaurant in appearance or food. Not only is it beautifully adorned, but it also has a lovely covered patio for diners who would like to sit outdoors, including one of the restaurant’s two fireplaces. Much of the décor was made from wood from Northern Michigan. Many of the walls are covered with a Detroit area artist’s hand-paintings of trees & birds, befitting an orchard. Excellent FOOD!

Mine is held together with duct tape and ready to fall apart.” The correct answer is to call Republic Waste Services at 734-729-8200. Tell them that we have private service as a CCV resident. They will supply you with a new bin – no charge. We DO NOT have trash pick up from Northville Township, so please don’t ask them for a recycle bin.
NASTY THINGS TO THROW AWAY TODAYGermy Kitchen SpongeStart fresh with a new kitchen sponge. Studies show it’s the germiest thing in most American households, with bacteria thriving in the damp crevices, says micro-biologist Philip Tierno, Ph.D., of New York University. To cut contamination, microwave your sponge daily in an inch of water for a minute on high heat.
Expired Canned FoodThose cans you’ve had since Reagan was president? They need to go. Food-safety experts say canned tomatoes and fruits are good for 18 months; canned meat and vegetables, up to five years. Just don’t donate them to the food bank. If they’re unsafe for you, they’re unsafe for everyone.
Pathetic PillowsWhen was the last time you replaced your pillow? Pillows older than 18 months contain fungi, dead skin and dust mites that can aggra-vate allergies, asthma and sinusitis. Try this: Fold your pillow in half and squeeze out the air. If it doesn’t spring back, it’s too old.
Crusty Contact Lens CasesStudies show that up to 92 percent of cases are contaminated due to poor cleaning and hygiene. Eye experts and the government say cases should be replaced every month to three months, and cleaned and air-dried (facedown) daily. Use fresh soaking solution every day — no topping off or reusing.
Moldy MakeupMakeup stays safe for only a limited time; after that, bacteria that may cause infection can start to grow — especially in eye makeup. Mascara has the shortest shelf life (two to three months), followed by lip gloss (six months). Replace foundation after six months to a year, at most. Open your makeup drawer. Do you need your friend to tell you that you need an intervention?
Old Spice(s)Dried-up, decades-old spices won’t make you sick, but they won’t add flavor to food or impart any nutrients either. The experts at McCormick say seasoning blends last one to two years; herbs and ground spices, one to three years; and whole spices, up to four years.Expired or Unused MedicationsToss your old drugs in a safe, legal, eco-friendly way. Do not flush them down the toilet or put them in the trash. Take them to official collection sites on National Take-Back Initiative Day, April 27. Check the SMARxTDisposal website for other approved disposal ideas.
Piled-Up Plastic ContainersContainers with recycle codes 3 or 7 may contain BPA, a hormone-disrupting chemical that leaches into food as containers age or get heated in the microwave or dishwasher. Tupperware made before 2010 can also have BPA. Replace with new plastic or glass contain-ers, which do not contain the chemical.
Hazardous Waste
Aerosol cans, batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, paint — they all need to be disposed of properly so they don’t contaminate the environment or accidently harm children or pets. Visit Earth911.com, a huge clearinghouse for recycling info, to help you find a place that will safely dispose of hazardous material.
