Hey AIESECers Welcome to the Congress Booklet III ! It’s with great pleasure and excitement that AIESEC Puerto Rico brings you the Iberoamerican Leadership Congress 2011. This is our third ILC 2011 Congress Booklet and we are a 28 days closer to achieving our goals. In this booklet you will find infor-mation of the venue, fee information, logistics, our social me-dias, information on our CC and more. Remember!

Visa Procedures Puerto Rico is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, east of the Do-minican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico has been under U.S. sovereignty for over a century and Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917. Both Spanish and English are the official lan-guages, the local currency is the U.S. dollar, and no visas or passports are required to enter Puerto Rico from the United States. This means that you have to apply for the visa appointment in the U.S. embassy of your country or the country you are currently in. There’s no Puerto Rican embassy and all these procedures are done through the United States.

VaccinesAbout Puerto Rico

To travel to Puerto Rico like in the US delegates will need to have certain vaccines be-fore arriving. These are the vaccines that are required by the government to be able to travel to Puerto Rico: Ty-phoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, Tuberculosis and Rabies. We recommend that you also get: Meningo-

coccal Meningitis, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Japanese B encephalitis and Tick-borne encephalitis as a preventive method. All travelers are ad-vised to ensure that tetanus and polio vaccinations are kept up to date.

Travel InformationArrival Information

You should Arrive at San Juan, Puerto Rico. Luis Muñoz Marín Inter-national Airport (SJU). The first day of ILC (18th) are the Youth to Business Forum, Opening Ceremony and Global Village. These events will be held at San Juan, this means that even though there’s a small airport in the town of the hotel (Aguadilla) it is recommend that you arrive at the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU) in San Juan.The CC will arrange transportation from the airport for delegates arriving between March 17th and 18thuntil 12PM midday. If you

are arriving out of these hours, the CC is not responsible for your transportation.

Travel Information


US Custom information: US Customs declarations, Form 6059B, are distributed on vessels and planes and are available in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Por-tuguese, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Fill out your declaration before you arrive so you can speed your US Customs and immigration clearance. You must complete the information requested on the front of the declaration. You need not itemize things you brought with you for personal use--for example, clothing, toiletries, portable radios--if they are within the exemptions allowed for arriving visitors (nonresidents). You must, however, declare the value of any gifts, business articles, or items not for your own use that you have brought with you to the United States.You may declare these articles orally at the time of your US Customs inspection; the Customs inspector may, however, ask you to list them on

the back of your declaration form.

Written Declaration:When making your written Customs declaration, you must list all goods accompanying you other than your personal effects, along with their price or value. This includes gifts for other people, articles carried for someone else, articles for sale, and commercial samples. You need not list wearing apparel, articles of personal adornment, toiletries, and similar

personal effects that you owned abroad and have brought for your own use.The purchase price of articles you declare must be stated in U.S. dollars. If you don’t know the price, say so. If the article was a gift, state the fair value, in U.S. dollars, in the country

Fee InformationA. Payment Options i. Cash Fee deadline is March 18, midday 1. Fee: 250.00USD Fee + 25.00USD= 275.00USD Damage fee: 275.00USD + 50.00USD= 325.00USD Damage fee apply to Applications after January 16th and replacements after January 16th. The fee include all de meals, transportations and accomodation between March 18th to 24th. ii. Payments are made in US Dollars ONLY iii. B. Cancellations i. ILC Application Legal Part: 1. “Each delegate, whose application has been approved by AI, shall also be liable to pay a cancellation fee of two hundred and fifty dollars (USD250) and a late registration fee of three hundred dollars(USD300). If the delegate ends up not participating in the congress, they will have to pay the cancellation fee anyways. “ 2. “The entire country delegation needs to complete the total amount payments in March 18th in the morning up until 12PM midday during the check in by chief delegates. Total amount refer to del-egates fee, late fee, damage fee, cancellation fee and souvenirs [t-shirts, etc.]. If the payments are not com-pleted by check-in time, none of the delegates from the country will be able to participate in the event. “ ii. 1. This means that the delegate will NOT have to pay the cancellation fee if they can-cel before AI or their MC choose them as delegates. If the delegate cancels after AI approves them as of-ficial delegates the person will have to pay the cancellation fee because they are now official delegates, they will have to pay the Congress Fee minus the Damage Fee, depending on the date he/she applied. If you cancel before January 16, 2011 you will pay $250.00 if you cancel after this date it will be $300.00. This money should be payed by March 18, 2011 before 12 pm (GMT -4). If the payments are not com-pleted by check-in time, none of the delegates from the country will be able to participate in the event. 2. If before March 8, 2011 the MC country finds a substitute delegate for a delegate that cancelled he/she will not have to pay the cancellation fee. If the MC does not find a substitute del-egate before March 8 the delegate that cancelled will be required to pay the cancellation fee. If the new delegate also cancels after January 16, 2011 he/she will have to pay the late fee of 300.00 USD.

ILC InsuranceChartis will be the ILC Insurance Host.

Effective Dates: Coverage will begin March 17th, 2011 and will end on March 24, 2011.

Coverage: Accidental Death and Dismemberment: When the injury causes any of the following losses within ninety (90) days following the accident, the Company will pay for the loss of: Life - Principal Amount Two Extremities - Principal Amount One Extremities - Half of Principal Amount

Reimbursement of Medical Expenses: The Company will pay the insured reasonable and customary medical expenses incurred as a result of the accidental injury initiated during the coverage period. Coverage in excess of any Medical Plan. Pre-existing conditions are excluded from the Company’s coverage.

The only accomodation the fee includes are 7 days 6 nights between March 18th to 24th.

Countries Meeting If you want to have countries meeting, notify CC 5 hours before to reserve tables at meals for the delegations. You need to bring the following information:

Delegates Arrival The CC will arrange transportation from the airport for delegates arriving between March 17th all day and 18th until 12PM midday. If you are arriving out of these hours, the CC is not responsible for your transportation.The CC will arrange transportation from the Faro Hotel to the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport in San Juan March 24th at 6pm and March 25th at 8am.Please consider San Juan is approximately 1 ½ from Aguadilla.This is the ONLY transportation the CC will arrange to the delegates. In the case you flight is delayed, and you arrive then March 18th after 12PM CC is not responsible for your transportation.

Vikingos Chief Delegates

The Vikingos Chief Delegates will work really close to the CC Vikingos. This part of the booklet will explain some of their tasks.

In the case that you do not send the insurance documents, agreements and passport & visas copies, you need to bring them to the check-in printed. If you do not bring these documents to CC Vikingos, the entire delegation will not enter to the congress.

Through a series of parallel workshops , panel discussions and talks, 300 lead-ers from more than 18 countries and 200 from Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rican Night, March 22nd Puerto Rican Night, moment in which Puerto Rico will be show-cased to the world, we’ll share our traditions, teach them our customs, and radiate our magic. It consists of a traditional Puerto Rican dinner where our delegates will be delighted with spectacles, traditional food, and cultural showcases.

Parque de las Cavernas del Río Camuy has for decades been the site where visitors from the is-land and abroad are introduced to the fascinating underground geography of Puerto Rico. List of Puerto Rican slang words and phrases

This is a list of phrases, words, and slang used in Puerto Rico. There are many phrases that are funny in one place and mean nothing in another country that speaks Standard Spanish.

A fuego - Literally means “To fire”, but it refers to something being “cool” or “good”. “Don’t bother him, he’s a good person”. “That activity was cool”.Abombao - Smelly. A very bad or putrid odor or something, namely food, that is spoiled.abochornarse - to blushBendito - Used to show sympathy or sorrow towards someone.Cafre - Low class, tacky or ghetto.Chinchorrear - To go bar hopping. To hang out at bars.Guillao or Guille - “Prideful” or “Pride”, respectively. The phrases Estar guillao and Tener guille” both mean “to have a lot of ego”, “to be prideful”, or “to be full of oneself.” “Tenerlo guillao” - keeping it to yourself.Janguiar - To Hang out”Jienda - To get drunk.Maceta - “A person that is cheap”; it could also mean something penis depending on the context.Más claro no canta un gallo - “It couldn’t be any clearer” or “explicitly stated”. It literally trans-lates to “A rooster does not sing any clearer than this.”No te rochees - “Don’t rush”or “don’t worry.”Parkear- Adapted from the English, means “to park”. The correct term in Spanish is “estacionar”.Pichear - It actually means:” to pitch”. He’s looking to get something from someone or it could also mean,”To ignore.”Tipo/tipa - “Dude/chick.”
