Three Primary Things We Can Learn About Counseling From The Example of Christ

• To really help people we must enter their world.

• To really help people we must accurately interpret

and explain the nature and causes of their

problems to them.

• To really help people we must provide

authoritative, God-ordained (i.e., biblical)

solutions to their problems for them.

1. What does it mean to enter the world of the counselee?

• Generally - John 1:14; Philippians 2:5-9; Hebrews 2:11-18; Hebrews 4:15

• More specifically:– Physically– Experientially– Cognitively– Emotionally

• Examples:– Matthew 4:1-11

– Matthew 27:29-31

– John 11:34, 35

– Luke 24:13-35

problems to them?

exposed the sinfulness of their thoughts, desires, motives, words, and actions.

– By the words He spoke He exposed the nature and cause of their sinful thoughts, desires, motives, words and actions.
