The Challenge
NYC is challenging local health tech innovators to develop commercially viable technologies to solve urgent health care problems
Goals
Recognize the best emerging healthcare technologies by NYC innovators
Spur the creation of NYC-based healthcare technology companies and jobs
Address urgent needs in healthcare
Challenge Details
Submission requirements: Product prototype Demo video Documentation
10 Finalists chosen: 9 by a panel of judges 1 by popular vote
Challenge Details
Pitch Prep: 10 Finalists will be coached by Startup Health on the art of the pitch and presentation slides
Demo Day: 10 Finalists will pitch their solutions in front of a panel of judges and large audience
Awards: $25,000 Grand Prize $15,000 Second Prize $10,000 Third Prize
Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be judged on the:
Quality of the Idea (creativity and originality)
Quality of UX (design, visual aesthetic, ease of use) Potential Impact (on an urgent healthcare need)
Commercial Potential (feasibility of distribution to target users, scalability, and potential demand)
Quality of Team (prior successes and experience of team members and capacity of the team to execute and bring the technology to market).
Eligibility
Eligible individuals, teams of individuals, corporations, orgs based in NYC and which employ up to 10 employees 18 years old or over, NYC residents or employees individuals may participate with >1 “team”
Ineligible sponsor, administrator or contractor involved with the competition organization/individual associated with any judge

Novel Technologies Wireless health and home monitoring devices Consumer or enterprise technology
Data use Data analysis: improve outcomes/reduce care cost Pop. level data analytics and predictive modeling
Process Improvement Care coordination and integration Productivity enhancements, streamlining processes
