    Upcoming Conferences

ASME Gas TurbineIndia ConferenceDecember 5-6, 2013 | Bangalore, IndiaPRESENTED BY THE ASME GAS TURBINE INSTITUTE AND CSIR NATIONAL

    AEROSPACE LABORATORIES

ASME Gas Turbine Chapter of India, supported by ASME

International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI), announces the ASME2013 Gas Turbine India Conference to be in Bangalore,

Karnataka, India on December 5-6, 2013. If you are involved in

the area of GT Design & Research, this conference will give you

the unique opportunity to interact with experts in the gas

turbine industry, as well as find out the latest methods and

cutting-edge technology that can improve how gas turbines

    operate in the future.

    ASME Turbo Expo 2014June 16 - 20, 2014 | Dsseldorf, Germany

ASME Turbo Expo is recognized as the must attend event for

turbomachinery professionals. The technical conference has a

well-earned reputation for bringing together the best and

brightest experts from around the world to share the latest in

turbine technology, research and development, and application

in the following topic areas: gas turbines, steam turbines, wind

turbines, fans & blowers, solar brayton & rankine cycle and

supercritical CO2. The 3-day exhibition attracts the industry's

leading professionals and key decision makers, whose innova-

tion and expertise are helping to shape the future of the

    turbomachinery industry.

ASME Turbine Blade TipSymposium and Course WeekSept. 30 - Oct. 3, 2013 | Hamburg, Germany

The present multidisciplinary ASME 2013 Turbine Blade Tip

Technical Symposium and Course Week addresses the currentstate of the art in the design, analysis, and improvement of turbine

blade tips. Despite decades of applied research, the issue of bladetip burnout has remained as one of the most intractable in gas

turbines. Yet the degradation of blade tips continues to representa large fraction of the turbine losses, both in terms of the opera-

tional aero-thermal efficiency and the engine life cycle maintain-ability. A two-day course of lectures will precede the technical

symposium to provide background, state-of-the-art design, andoperability issues surrounding the topic. A two-day symposium

will build upon the lec ture series with current proposed orenacted solutions, studies to gain insight to the physics, and an

industry panel session for open discussion. Interested attendeescan register for the course only, symposium only, or for both parts

    of the event.http://asmeconferences.org/TBTS2013/

    ASME Organic

    Rankine Cycle 2013October 7-8, 2013 | Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Organic Rankine Cycles (ORCs) power plants are gaining everincreasing interest as cost-effective sustainable energy systems.

By using an appropriate organic working fluid in a Rankinethermodynamic cycle, ORC power plants are able to efficiently

convert renewable energy sources into electricity. Their power

capacity spans from few kWe to few MWe for a single unit, butmultiple units in parallel can make up a multi megawatt powerstation. Among the multitude of applications of this technology,

several stand out: ORC systems can be used to obtain electricityfrom geothermal reservoirs, biomass combustion and gasification,

solar radiation, waste heat recovery from internal combustionengines and gas turbines, as well as a large variety of industrial

processes discarding heat at low and moderate temperatures. TheORC market is growing at an impressive pace, with currently many

hundreds of units of various sizes operating reliably for many

    years all over the world.
