Established already in 1941 it has a long history, having been a training base for the navy personal in the art of GCA approaches. In 1947 it was decommissioned and returned to the City of Gainesville. Today it is a well equipped IFR/VFR airport. Located to the North East well away from the busy airspace of Atlanta with 2 paved runways in 1276’ above MSL. IFFR CONVENTION PROGRAM
Saturday 10th—Wednesday 14th
Convention days. The IFFR both is open at the
House of Friendship.
Monday 12th
IFFR AGM will take place in the afternoon at the
convention center.
IFFR Gala dinner are planned for the same
evening .
FLYOUT PROGRAM
Thursday 15th
The flyers will depart the hotel for Lee Glimmer
Mem Airport. Departure for Chattanooga, TN.
Civil War and Area tour and visit to the great
downtown area.
Chattanooga is the home town of our International
President John Germ.
We will stay one night at this location.
Friday 16th - Monday 19th
The flyers will depart for Knoxville. Here there
will be a lunch stop and we will visit the Cirrus
Delivery center. In the afternoon we will fly on to
Lexington, KY. The bus will drive directly to
Lexington from Chattanooga.
We will stay 3 nights in Lexington, and the
program there will entail
Tour of Race Horse farm.
Bourbon tour
Rotary Rodeo
Daytrip to Shaker Village with dinner.
