Why Are We Reluctant To Delegate?

I am reluctant to delegate because I:• am afraid to ask for help.• may look weak.• am concerned about job security.• think it is quicker to do it myself.• am afraid of rejection.• will have to fix the messes from it. It is easier

just to do it myself!

The Keys to Successful Delegation• Don’t pass on grunt work• Don’t pass on things that should be dumped• Delegate items you know the recipient likes to do• Include the recipient in on setting the goals for

the task• Explain the importance of the task delegate is to

be completed• Provide training, tools, and ongoing coaching• If possible, have the person shadow you in a

similar task before you delegate
