When my friends ask me to go shopping with them, I almost always say no. I really like spending time with my friends, but I really don’t like spending hours in the local shopping mall. But clearly they do!
This is how a shopping trip starts for my friends. They meet at their favourite café. They have a coffee first to plan which shops they want to go to and then off they go! And they are not alone. It seems to me that a lot of girls like to spend their free time shopping. My friends don’t have much money but that doesn’t stop them; window shopping is fun for them too!
My best friend, Fiona, can spend a whole day going from one shop to the next. She reads all the fashion magazines so she knows what’s in fashion. She often goes into shops and just tries clothes on but doesn’t want to buy them. What’s the point in that?
Then there’s my other friend, Ali. She buys a lot of make-up and perfume. I think those things make her feel good. She really likes spending her money in good-quality cosmetics shops.
And then there’s me! My idea of the perfect Saturday is to be outside, enjoying the fresh air. I only go shopping when I need to buy a birthday present or something for school. I never go shopping for fun – it’s definitely not an enjoyable experience for me.
