Regions include other parts of the World.• A Region is further sub-segmented into Sections• A Society is a technical conglomeration of Members• The 37 IEEE Technical Societies with 231,000 Society
Members are all over the world. • A Chapter is the Union of Societies and Sections

Chapter Formation>How To Form a Chapter• Twelve Members and Petition for a Chapter• Members must belong to IEEE Technical Societies• Ask the Section Chair to forward the Petition• Chapter is formed in Two/Three Weeks• Maintain a Minimum of Ten Society Members per year to
Continue• Conduct at least Two Technical Meetings in a Year• Send Meeting Reports to IEEE and the Section• Get Formation and Maintenance Funds from IEEE• Get Society Resources and Launch Conferences• Enjoy TAB, RAB, IEEE/USA Resources for Special Projects• Enjoy Cohesion and Affinity among Members

Chapter Formation>An Example • Twenty IEEE Members for in two adjacent buildings in a small
city away from main stream• Eleven Members Belong to Computer Society and Nine
Members belong to Communications Society• These 20 Members have common interest on VLSI• All Members belong to the same IEEE Section• Both Computers and Communications Chapters Exist in the
Section• These 20 Members Can Form Another Chapter on VLSI• The New VLSI Chapter will include members of Computer
Society and Communications Society of the Section in a geographical area desired in the original petition
