Cooking at home, for the research, the shopping experience and the preparation steps.

My favorite japanese food show “Cooking with dog”. Municipal market in São Paulo that I go on Sundays.

Or eating at a restaurant, for the environment and the immersion.

I love the Japanese restaurant ”Lamen Kazu” on winters. “Tandoor”- Indian restaurant a few blocks from my home.

Food can take you back to a place you love or miss.

This is not my childhood home, but you get the idea! I definitely miss Paris.

Or it can take you to a place you’ve never been.

China. Egypt.

Food will make you think about a country’s:• Geography

Lots of pasture? Lots of sea?

• Climate

Cold winters? Hot summers?

• History

Japanese bento box – food for travellers. Chinese tea ceremony.

• Religion

Jewish food – kosher. Indian food – no cattle.

• Habits

Spanish tapas – fun times. Fast food – time is money.

• Economy.

African flat bread. French cousine.

Ethnic food will take you out of your comfort zone:• You may find your new favorite cuisine;

Those are mine.

• Or just have a good laugh trying to finish a dish.

Ethiopian food – this one was too spicy for me. Chinese crickets – I haven’t tried it yet.

Ethnic food always gives you great stories to tell, and you might become the go to reference when people around you want suggestions for the weekend or special occasions.

It will also give you something in common with any person in the world, as food from their origins is something everyone can talk about, and people really enjoy when you are interested in their culture.

Food is a universal connector, and anything that helps creating and maintaining positive connections can help you professionally as well.
