Solid Core

A solid core is a pure form of a single material. Either 100% wood or 100% metal.

Density is high, hence it becomes heavy.

Gives a very bad insulation if steel is used.

While the people inside remains almost constant, thebehavior Of people reacting from outside varies a lot depending on the types of people andtheir relation With the house. Some of them are actual residents coming back fromschool / offices , some of them are Gas , milk , news paper suppliers ,some of them aremaintenance people even there may be burglars who may Try to break open the door.

Assume a condition where the people inside is an elderly couple ,where the gentleman is of75 yr. old ,already Undergone a cardiac pacemaker fixation ,having slight tremor in hands.But he is very active , goes for regular Physical exercise program, loves shopping and so on.He does a good number of house hold tasks to assist His wife. He was the manager ofpharmaceutical company and is on Pension now.

The lady is 68 yr old suffering from severe knee joint and wrist joint problems. Shecan work but with difficulty. She uses four legged walker while walking as a precautionarymeasure. Apart from these specific ailments general Age related ailments are alsoapplicable. She loves painting, music and photography.

Their two sons are married and well established but staying in different parts of the country.As a designer you have been asked to conceptualize the main door of the newly acquired flatBy the elderly in Powai region.
