Many parents believe Kindergarten is a year of socialization and play, until school begins. The problem is we spend so much time enforcing literacy, that parents are not clear on math expectations. This video will clarify the Kindergarten math curriculum and expectations in Bristol. Parents will also be given ideas for additional support at home.

This video will provide additional support lessons for students to view at home. Incorporating multimedia into the math curriculum will bring the information to life. It will add a sense of interest for parents and students. It is important for parents to realize that math is also a major part of Kindergarten; as it is the basis for future years.

This instructional video will be sent home to parents. Parents will view the video with their child and discuss what math topics we have learned thus far. In future years, I plan to send this video to parents at the beginning of September as it provides an overview of the entire school year.

I will use an adult and child created with shapes to guide the user through this video. The people will be visible in a frame to represent the purpose of the video. There will be four main topics to choose from: Numbers, Objects, Money and Credits. Since parents will view this video with their child, I felt it should be interesting to the students.

Parents will be able to follow the instructional guide at any point in the year for reminders of what is upcoming. Resources for additional support will be provided for parents to use at home. Curriculum material follows the report card and keeps parents informed.

As parents view each chapter, with their child, they will learn about the various math topics we teach in Kindergarten. Chapters will be broken down into numbers, objects, and money. Each chapter will include various subcategories for the user to view. The user can view each chapter in any order.

Many of my topics include video because I feel this is something that can interest my students while watching this movie with their parents. I decided to use a flash movie on shapes because it is entertaining. The videos, flash documents, and PDF files are located at the end of each topic. I also decided to use a PowerPoint to discuss a five-day lesson series on money.

The user will be provided with a questionnaire. This will be a two part questionnaire. One part will be for the parent to complete and the other part will be for the child to complete.
