Presentation Tips for Public Speaking

• Know the needs of your audience• When you are presenting it is not

unlike acting!• Body language:

– Much of communication comes through body language

– Posture – stand up straight, don’t lean backwards or forwards Stay relaxed and balanced!

– Hands are prone to fidgeting!– Dress!—your physical appearance

WILL shape first impressions– Eye contact—maintaining eye contact

with your audience is an essential element of good public speaking!

• Speak with conviction as if you really believe in what you are saying. Persuade your audience effectively.

• Try not read from notes for any extended length of time
