s PB/LW /200/Misc./Vol. III Dated :16.06.2017

The shift timings of Shop-82 Supervisors and Inspectors for the Saturday have been revised as 16.30 to 20.45 hrs instead of 12.30 to 16.45 hrs.

Availing of Personal Loan from Nationalized Bank of late, it has been noticed that some of the employees, due to extreme circumstances in their families, have availed personal loans at exorbitant interest rates from money lenders / Private Financiers.

Consequently, they are under tremendous financial stress and driven to extreme steps without exploring alternative feasibilities.

With a view to facilitate the employees, who are in acute financial need, ICF is making an endeavor, purely on humanitarian grounds, to mitigate the financial problems being faced by the employees. As a staff welfare measure, ICF will request the nationalized banks to come forward by way of offering loans at reasonable rates on certain terms and conditions to the needy employees to ease their stress.

The employees who are interested to avail this opportunity may contact the respective Staff & Welfare Inspectors of their shops / office or Welfare Centers located in Shell Administrative Office and Furnishing Administrative Office.

Seniority list of Ministerial Staff and DMS Staff Of Stores Department, Ministerial Staff, Staff & Welfare Inspector of Personnel Department, Ministerial Staff of Mechanical Department, have been published. Representation if any should be submitted before 31.08.2017.

RECENT IMPROVEMENTS IN ICF COACHES

ICF Institute was recently renovated and renamed as Mahakavi Bharathi Institute. It was inaugurated way back on 4th of December in the year 1954, prior to the inception of ICF. In those days entertainment was not much and the Institute served the employees as a recreation centre. Various Programmes,

Competitions, Fairs and Food carnivals were held for the employees and their families. This paved way for all the employees to unite together as a single ICF family. Besides this, Stage dramas of popular productions were staged and movies were screened at Dr. Ambedkar Arangam.

Later after introduction of satellite channels in mid and late nineties and the domination of computers, Institute started losing its charm. Members preferred to sit back at home and watch televisions and children were busy playing games on computers. The result indicated that the numbers of users are coming down drastically as days go by.

To bring back the lost glory of Institute, ICF administration planned to renovate it. After completion of the work, it ended up as a wonderful recreation club. Various facilities to latest needs were added and it started gaining attraction.

The Institute has an established Library and a Reading room. The library has around 2700 novels. There are varieties of novels in English written by famous authors like Sidney Sheldon, Jeffrey Archer, and Ken Follett and in Tamil the novels of famous writers like Sujatha, Amudha Ganesan and Ramani Chandran are found on the racks. Readers who love to read the ancient history can look forward for the book of Chandilyan. A person entering the reading room can find lot of newspapers and weekly magazines arranged neatly in the desk. He can pick any leading newspaper or magazine to his choice in the language of English or Tamil. For the benefit of employees who have settled in Chennai from other parts of our country, newspapers and magazines of other south Indian language and Hindi are available.

Sports lovers, who wish to practice, have lot of indoor attractions like Caroms, Chess, Table Tennis and Shuttle Badminton. A rink is also constructed for the children to skate around in open air. A well equipped modernized Gymnasium is available for fitness. Separate time slots are allotted for men and women for their convenience. All the above facilities are available at a minimum cost of Rs50/- towards subscription for a month. After sweating out, one can make use of the purified cool water dispenser placed outside the gymnasium to quench their thirst.

An air-conditioned Computer class room with computers, where 30 students can be taught in a batch has been opened recently to impart basic computer education. Adjacent to this, there is another class room where Communicative English course is currently going on. Both the courses are started with a view to educate Computer and English for the children to enrich knowledge at the blooming stage especially to enhance their employment skills. The course fee is reasonable and around 20 students are making use of the course. Admission for the course is open to all including non railway men. Employees and students who wish to have a break can come out and sip a cup of Tea or coffee from the Automatic vending kiosk and refresh themselves. Another entertainment is the LED television that one can look forward for a break.

Besides the above, the Dr Ambedkar Auditorium has also been renovated. It boasts with a new interior look with more amenities, where stage dramas, cultural programmes, and meetings are regularly held. The auditorium is fully air-conditioned with a seating capacity of 640 persons. Better sound and lighting system are the main features of the hall.

To avail all the above facilities, an employee should enroll as a member and subscribe a bare minimum amount of Rs30/- a month, which would be deducted at salary source. As we all know about the cost of membership in private sports and recreation club in the city, our Institute is a real boon for us. It is heartening to know that already around 8000 employees have enrolled themselves as members. It is high time that they productively use the facilities provided, by visiting Institute with family members during leisure time. M.G. Shanker / PRO
