• Inland Northwest Research Alliance (INRA) Water Research Consortium - coalition of eight universities working in cooperation with the US Department of Energy– Boise State University– Idaho State University– Montana State University– University of Alaska Fairbanks– University of Idaho– University of Montana– Utah State University– Washington State University
• ICEWATER – INRA Constellation of Experimental WATERsheds
What is ICEWATER?
ICEWATER Research Themes
• Snowmelt and runoff– Linkages between snow accumulation, snowmelt, watershed
characteristics, runoff source areas, and water routing– Water yield and flow regime and effects of land use and climate change
• Groundwater/ surface water interactions– Improved understanding of the dynamics of groundwater and
surface water interactions – Improved management of water resources
• Human altered systems– Effects of human alterations and water resources and
management infrastructure and policies on water quantity, quality, and the hydrologic functioning of watersheds
Our Goal: An ICEWATER Information System
• Advances in water research are critically dependent on the assembly and integration of water data
• Collect, organize and share water data of interest to the INRA water research community
An internet based system to support the sharing of hydrologic data comprising databases connected using the internet through web services as well as software for data discovery, access
