Internationally Accredited Sailing School ICC Yacht Certificate Bareboat Training Complete training for those wanting the licence to Bareboat in Europe An extensive course covering all the skills you will need to safely charter a yacht. • Comprehensive learning with a low teacher/student ratio of 1:4 • Proven training curriculum backed by the IYT We are Bareboat Training Specialists We train on Bavaria 35, Bavaria 37 or Seawind Catamaran. All yachts set up for training. Requirements: Time to study at home, and some experience on the water preferably on a yacht as crew. If you have zero experience you should consider the Competent Crew Course. Any IYT or RYA course, NSW Boat Licence is acceptable. Essential skills are covered with emphasis on cruising popular destinations around the world. 5 Course modules include: Intro to Sailing - 2 days On board safety, taking over a vessel, sailing techniques, heavy weather sailing, and more to make your sailing experience both pleasurable and memorable. Line handling, safety, use of winches and assessing strategy for any situation is the course outcome. Docking, Berthing, MOB - 1 day Perhaps the most difficult part of yachting, docking and berthing, anchoring and manouvering under power. The majority of accidents occur in this area. We take the mystery and guess work out of this challenging skill. Navigation - 1 day Introduction to Navigation and using Marine Charts. Marine Charts are your map to safe boating – if you do not know how to use one then you are taking risks. Our unique one day course makes sense of the road rules, the marks and how you should approach the task of simple navigation. Night Time Sailing - 1 evening from sunset, approx 3 hours Combined with the navigation course, this module introduces using and understanding lights, flashing sequences, dangers, and using safe navigation techniques at night. Live aboard Is available to students at no additional charge. Available as weekend courses or as a 5 day Fast Track course. Modules may be taken separately. Competent Crew Course A beginner course for those wanting to start sailing and/or crewing on a racing yacht. Learn key yacht handling skills, trimming the sails at different wind angles, steering the yacht, safety issues and acquiring good seamanship skills. Stay on board is available (not essential) for anyone wanting to experience and understand the yacht’s systems. The 2 day course, usually run on a weekend, covers: • Safety • Departing and coming into dock • Using a self tailing winch • Line handling • Trimming the sails • Reefing the sails while underway (and removing a reef) • Sailing a set course around at least 2 islands on Sydney Harbour The ideal course for those who have no experience and wish to start yachting. Qualifies for more advanced courses such as Bareboat Skipper, ICC for Europe, Coastal Skipper and more advanced sailing. Other Courses Advanced Coastal Cruising Comprehensive course covering more advanced sailing and navigation techniques.
