In the beginning of this academic year, when GTU resurrected the industry
institute interactions in the forms of innovation council and innovation Sankuls, it
abridged expectations of industries and capabilities of students. Today, after hosting
Vadodara Sankul-1 and implementing the responses to shodh yatra and IDPs for its
first academic year, it affirms my decision to welcome innovation council activities
with open arms. The students are grasping the engineering approaches and getting agreat opportunity to observe and be a part of industries.
I would like to thank GTU on behalf of BITS family for providing us with an
opportunity to host Vadodara Innovation Sankul. We, at BITS, are always eager to contribute towards
betterment of education.

I feel very happy to convey my feelings of all-round satisfaction and fulfill-
ment with the manner in which the innovation system was conceived, organized and
executed with perfection and in totality with the cooperation of all the participantsincluding the students, faculty and industries. It has achieved the primary objectiveof inculcating in the young minds the spirit of creativity and innovation. They have
also learnt a lot in shaping their communication skills during their shodh yatra. Inthe process, many thought-provoking ideas and useful projects have been developed.
It is our mission to provide platform for innovative design and development of prod-
ucts at cost-effective price. If we continue this mission for long, that day would not be far away when
India including Gujarat would be a super power to reckon with.
I congratulate them and give them my hearty compliments for their important contribution to
the engineering fraternity, society and national economy. I express my gratefulness to all the partici-

Innovation is today’s mantra for success. In a world where start-ups aremaking rapid strides within a short period of time and big names of yesteryears
are falling by the way side, the one approach that separates the winners from thelosers is the ability to constantly recreate products, processes and services. Har-
vey Firestone has rightly said that “Capital isn't so important in business. Experi-
ence isn't so important. You can get both these things. What is important is ideas. If
you have ideas, you have the main asset you need, and there isn't any limit to
what you can do with your business and your life." Ideas that revolutionize the
way we think or act, or usher in a change that contributes to the betterment of so-
ciety by fulfilling the needs and aspirations of those at the bottom of the pyramid, or are environment-friendly are creating waves across the world.
It is interesting to note that innovative and creative ideas are coming from the youth. Spontane-
ity and fresh thinking coupled with real time access to information and knowledge has ensured thatyoung people across different cultures, economic strata and professions have been able to contribute
significantly to the innovation revolution sweeping across the globe. Young Indians with their vast tal-
ent are playing a major part in the innovation revolution and in the process are getting upwardly mo-
bile.
I send my best wishes to the GTU Innovation Council and congratulate you on your
efforts to encourage young students from different disciplines to unleash their creative ener-
gies and share their ideas for the betterment of our country.

The idea behind making this project is to digitalize the menu card. The final product is a
handheld module, by using this device the waiter in a restaurant will take the order electroni-
cally on a touch panel by selecting the appropriate option displayed on a graphical LCD using astylus. This is in contrast to the conventional paper pad.
Once the order is taken from a particular table the order is then placed in the kitchen. this
system will optimize the performance of the restaurant in terms of saving the waiter’s time
and this in turn increase the efficiency of the service.
As suggested by GTU Innovation Council, Shodh yatras’ were organized for B. Pharm. Stu-
dents. The objective of these ‘Shodh Yatras’ was to have close interaction of Academic Institutes and
Pharmaceutical Industries and to identify industry Defined Problems (IDPs). The activity was con-
ducted by UDISHA Club members at BIP.
All the students of B. Pharm. Semester VII were divided into groups and each group was ac-
companied with a faculty member for visiting the industry.

has grown notoriously. Many authors
have made individual proposals of inter-esting topics to be researched around li-brary management systems, but no over-
arching research agenda has yet beenproposed. Based upon a recent research
literature review that we have under-
taken, which includes several real case
studies conducted in order to learn from
library management system experience
within specific colleges & schools, we propose and detail what appears to be a natural library man-
agement system life-cycle. Although a more focused cycle has been mentioned for library manage-
ment system implementation, we propose and define in detail a library management system life-cyclewhich covers other phase preceding and following implementation. Defined cycle may help in future
propose of research agendas around library management system, as well as in the contextualization
of more specific research themes.

is specially designed for Indian road transporter to fulfill all their requirements from loading of truck

ABSTRACT
The electricity scenario in rural India is still alarming even after 63 years of Indian independence.As per the statistics as of now more than 1 lakh villages are still deprived of basic electricity needs.
And due to the staggering requirements of industrial and commercial sector the supply to present ru-
ral connections is also below standard. The availability, quality and the time schedule are the major
issues when it comes to rural electrification. During our statistical research for this project we found
out three main reasons for the dismal performance of our supply system.Less generation compared to the demand.
Transmission capital cost and losses.
Depleting fossil fuel reserves.
The main idea behind undertaking this project was to overcome the two main problems of present
electrical grid in India.
Part 1:The first part of the project deals with utilizing the available SOLAR POWER in the rural plains to
generate electricity using photovoltaic cells as a standalone unit. This solar trapping will be done us-
ing a multi axis, stepper motor driven, solar tracker. The solar tracker will be controlled using MI-
CROCONTROLLER 8052. The multi axis mode is the most efficient way of trapping solar energy
round the year, as it tracks the daily as well as annual motion of the sun. The dual axis mechanism iscarried out using LDR pair comparison circuitry. The trapped energy will be stored in batteries for its
functioning tin the stage 2 of the project. This unit will provide a self- sufficient electrical supply unitthat can power the average needs of the village household. This can be implemented where there is
no electrical supply available at all.
Part 2:The main part of this project is the grid automation. This phase of the project is designed to be imple-
mented in all those rural areas where there is grid supply available but not up to the mark. The micro-
controller used for the solar tracker unit is used here for the function of grid automation encouraging
SMART GRID concept. The grid automation will do intelligent switching between the available grid
supply and the solar energy stored in the batteries. The switching action will take place under three
conditions.
Normal condition supply from grid is given to load.
In case of power outage the battery will supply the trapped solar power to the load.If there is no load requirement the stored energy will be transferred to the grid and net metering

ABSTRACT:Accurate load forecasting is very essential in power system planning. This will in-
crease the efficiency of electricity generation and distribution while maintaining sufficient
security of operations. Short term load forecasting, which focuses on short period of time, is
important for several operational decisions such as economic scheduling of generating capac-
ity, scheduling of fuel purchases, security assessment and planning for transmission.
Because power generation relies heavily on the electricity demand, the consumers are
also, practically speaking, required to wisely manage their loads to consolidate the power util-ity’s optimal power generation efforts. Thus, accurate and reliable electric load forecastingsystems are absolutely required. To date, there are numerous forecasting methods developed
primarily for electric load forecasting. Some of these forecasting techniques are conventional
and often less favoured. To get a broad picture of the problem at hand, a literature survey was
first conducted to identify possible drawbacks of the existing forecasting techniques including
the conventional one. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) approach for short-term load fore-
casting (STLF) has been recently proposed by a majority of researchers.
Our project is concerned with:Studying the conventional methods such as time series method and artificial neural network and
proving why artificial neural network is more accurate than other methods.We have concentrated on studying not only ANN model in detail but also 3 conventional meth-
ods which include Multiple Regression, Exponential Smoothing and ARMA model.
On understanding how these methods work we will compare the graphs obtained from conven-
tional models with the graphs obtained from ANN model. This comparison is done with the
help of programs that we have developed in Matlab software using the concepts of these
models in mind.
Our aim is to prove that ANN model is better and more accurate than other conventional models.
The next milestones of the Sankul:a. Establish a detailed research methodology for UG students and make changes based on
industry feedbacks, if necessary.
b. Make summer trainings more approachable and if possible mandatory. Documentingthe on-field experiences is a habit that could benefit in industrial life.
c. Continue to host and conduct various training activities to promote creativity and inno-
vation.
d. Propose an inclusion of recognition of individual (student and faculty) contribution to-
wards Innovation Sankul.
e. Exploring the scope of linkages of various projects/innovations within same branch
which can lead to a better or new product/process innovation.
