(Solution Key) QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE
1. Ans : C
According to the question, Area of the park = 100 x 40 = 4000 m² So, area of the circular lawn = (4000 - 1536)m² = 2464 m² i.e πr² = 2464 m²
=> r² = 2464 x 7/22 = 784 => r = √784 = 28m .'. Circumference of the circular lawn = 2πr = 2 x 22/7 x 28 = 176
2. Ans: A
Let one variety of wheat be 'x' kg. Then, second variety = (50 - x) kg
According to the question,
4.50 * x + 5 * (50 - x) = 240
=> 4.5x + 250 - 5x = 240
=> 0.5x = 10
=> x = 20
Hence, the quantity of cheaper wheat was 20 kg
3. Ans: C
Explanation : Speed of the train in meters/second = 60 x 5/18 = 50/3 m/s Distance travelled in 27s = 27x 50/3 m, this is equal to train’s length + platform’s length x + 200 = 27 x 50/3 3x + 600 = 1350 3x = 750 x = 750/3 = 250m
4. Ans: B
Le the distance between A and B be D. T1 = D/30
T2 = D/34 Total time = T1 + T2 = 48 minutes = 4/5 Hrs D/30 + D/34 = 4/5 => D (1/30+1/34) = 4/5 => D ((34+30)/30 x 34) = 4/5 => D = 4/5 x (30x34)/(30+34) = 51/4 So, Total Distance travelled = 2D = 51/2 = 25.5 Kms
She sold it for 26000, so profit = 4000. She spent a total of Rs 22000 and made a profit of Rs 4000, So Profit percent = (4000/22000)x 100 = 400/22 = 200/11 %
7. Ans: D
Explanation : Let A = x. Then, B = x + 2, C = x + 4, D = x + 6 and E = x + 8 Given, (A + C)/2 = 73 => A + C = 146 => x + x + 4 = 146 => 2x = 142 => x = 71
Hence, the smallest odd number is 71.
8. Ans: A
Explanation : According to the formula, Simple Interest = (Principal x Rate x Time )/100 => 8352 = (Principal x 12 x 8 )/100 => Principal = (8352 x 100)/(12 x 8) = 835200/96 = Rs 8700
9. Ans: b
Population = 380000 × 108/100 × 91/100 = 373464
10. Ans: A Explanation : Minimum marks to pass = 975 Raja got 810 marks and failed by 11 percent, so, 975-810 = 11% of total marks => 165 = (11 / 100) x total marks
=> (165 x 100) /11 = total marks => total marks = 15x100 = 1500
11. Ans: b)
Let C can complete the work in “X” days => 20/80 + 60/120 + 28/x = 1 => 28/x = 1 – [(60 + 120)/240] => 28/x = 1 – ¾ => 28/x = ¼ => X = 112 days.
12. Ans: B Explanation : There are 2 cases where the number of men is more than women.
Explanation : According to the question, Let the number of boys and girls be x and 2x respectively. => (x - 2)/(2x - 2) = 1/3 => 3x - 6 = 2x - 2 => x = 4. Now, number of boys = 4, Girls = 2 x 4 = 8. Hence , initially number of people were = 12.
14Ans: D
Explanation : Distance covered in downstream = 4 km
Time taken in downstream = 3 hours. Rate of downstream = distance / time = a = 4km / 3 hours = 4/3 km/hr. Distance covered in upstream = 2 km
Time taken in upstream = 2 hours. Rate of upstream = distance / time = b = 2 km / 2 hours = 1 km/hr. Speed in still water = (a + b)/2 = (1/2)(4/3 + 1) km/hr = (1/2)(4 + 3)/3 = 7/6 km/hr. Time Taken to cover 8 km in still water = distance / speed = 8 x 6/7 = 48 / 7 ≈ 7 hours.
15. Ans: b)
Let the original quantity = x litres Quantity of wine left after 4 operations = (1 – 8/x)4 => [x(1 – 8/x)4]/x = 16/81 => (x – 8)/x = 2/3 => x = 24 litres
Direction (16-20):
Answer:
16)e 17)d 18)c 19)a 20)c
16). e) Number of men visiting supermarket D = 41%
of 55500 = 41 × 555 = 22755 Total number of people visiting all the supermarkets together = 34560 + 65900 + 45640 + 55500 + 42350 + 59650 = 303600 Therefore required probability = 22755/303600 × 100 = 7.5% Appr.
18).d) Number of children visiting supermarkets C =
20% of 45640 = 20 x 45640/100 = 9128 Number of children visiting supermarket F = 14% of 59650 = 8351 Therefore required percentage = 9128/8351 × 100 = 109.3%
19).c) Total number of children visiting supermarket B
and D together = 20% of 65900 + 33% of 55500 = 1318 + 18315 = 31495
20).a) Total number of women = 55% of 34560 + 43%
of 65900 + 45% of 45640 + 26% of 55500+ 70% of 42350 + 62% of 59650 = 19008 +'28337 + 20538 +
