The selection made by Abraham Hurtado is based on the three research lines of AADK Spain: body, spatiality and territory. Thus, shows how film approaches to these concepts, the different paths of entering the experimental cinema, either through its narratives, composition and/or ways of production. www.ibaff.es | www.aadk.es

Since 2012 AADK Spain has been working on the territory, inviting art-ists from around the world to explore our surroundings, giving us in re-

turn their particular vision. The whole shooting of the two proposals were made in the region, two very different stories which shows a landscape

with a strong poetic and narrative potential.

THE LOST COLOR Kr i s L imbach (ge rmany )

The Lost Color (2016). Feature film. 60 minCreated and directed: Kris Limbach (Germany) Co-produced by: AADK Spain

A dysfunctional tourist couple tries to buy a huge property in the Spanish countryside and become a driving force towards a dystopian world. But there are other obscure figures distracting them from their enterprise. There is distrust, misunderstanding and hidden forces behind people’s behaviour. But there is also a primitive state getting revealed, a pre civilisational state of life glimpses through the dark night.“The Lost Color” comes along as a narrative film, and over and over again abandons the story in favor of pure imagery association.

Limbach graduated in applied physics from Freie Universität Berlin and his physical knowledge merges into his sound and art work. His emphasis is always on exploring sound and image in an experimental way. Al-though his focus is on sound, he is also involved in film projects since 1998, exploring constantly formats and aesthetics of cinema.“The Lost Color” is after “Music for dysfunctional airports” Kris Limbach´s second film shot in spain that deals with the economical and spiritual european crisis.

In this section the “body” is represented in a broad spectrum of possibilities. There is the body as a space for experimentation with all it potential -where the movement exceeds the foresee-able and all conventions. But there is also shown its fragility and disappearance, either as an

organism that becomes ill, or while navigating in the virtual world - where identity disregards the bodily presence.

“Spatiality” is understood as the relationship established between individuals in the ways of taking up the space. In both pieces, the space is not only a container but also a scenario that

strengthens one or another behaviour among the individuals who will have to inhabit it.

La Ciudad del Trabajo (2015) - Feature film, 61.24 min.Created and Directed by: Guillermo G. Peydró (Spain)

La ciudad del trabajo (2015) - Feature film, 61.24 minCreated and directed by Guillermo G. Peydró (Spain)

The Universidad Laboral of Gijón, together with the Valle de los Caídos, are the greatest exam-ple of monumental architecture during the Franco autarky. In this “socio-educational laboratory” was put into action, in the form of a boarding school for a thousand children, the desired to shape the future of the New Order. Through appropriation of audio footage from films of the first two decades of the dictatorship, the film tests complementary ways to reveal the implica-tions of this building-city, its ambiguous position between utopia and dystopia and its unique architecture, riding between Piero della Francesca and Piranesi.

Guillermo G. Peydró (Madrid, 1981) is a filmmaker and a PhD in art history, programmer of the international film festival PuntodeVista and external advisor of the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico DF (MAM). In his thesis discusses ways of critical dialogue between film and visual arts, as well as its aesthetic, academic, political uses. Author of a dozen short films about art, his first feature, La Ciudad del Trabajo premiered at the 2015 festival FID Marseille.
