Character Education
What is Character Education?
Character Education is the building of student’s character. Also, “Character Education”
is a term to describe the teaching of children in a manner that will help them develop
characteristics that will serve them well morally, enforce good manners, good behavior,
non-bullying, great work ethic, compliance, and socially acceptable beings.
In the spirit of “Character Education”, Mrs. League started a tradition in our classroom
by writing a positive trait that students should exhibit. I saw how the word of the week
had a huge impact on our students. Mrs. League and I (Ms. Steele) have partnered
together to make sure that students reflect and model the word of the week.
The word of the week is TENACIOUS! Mrs. League, Mrs. Reynolds, and I encourage
our students to be tenacious in everything that they do and never give up. The sky is the
Orion Space Launch
PA G E 3
On December 15, 2014, the IAH Middle School went to
the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center to view the
launching of the Orion space shuttle. The space shuttle
planned to lift off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Sta-
tion in Florida. The Orion spacecraft was set to orbit
Earth twice, reaching an altitude of approximately 3,600
miles above Earth before landing in the Pacific Ocean.
No one was aboard Orion for this flight test, but the
spacecraft was designed to allow astronauts to journey
to destinations never before visited by humans, including
an asteroid and Mars.

community. The students told important facts and created
important scenes in the famous
people’s lives.
