On September 8th Trish Gendron of Care One hosted an outdoor ice cream social for all of us at East Village Place. Although Summer was not quite over, it was a wonderful way to take full advantage of the nice weather and to send Summer off with a sweet farewell. The weather was beautiful for our outdoor gathering and our large oak tree provided us with ample amounts of shade. Trish helped us serve up healthy portions of crisp apple pie with a dollop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. What a great way to welcome Fall with the taste of apple pie which brings nostalgic memories of Autumn with it. We had a great time socializing with our friends and neighbors, at a safe distance, while indulging in our sweet treat. Thank you Trish for a tasty treat and a great time had by all! I Scream, You Scream! A great friend to East Village Place, Allison Gendron, of Health Pro- Heritage, hosted a Walker and Wheelchair tune-up Clinic in September. This event was open to residents from all of our community's neighborhoods. Allison and her associates took time to assess each resident's wheelchair or walker and make adjustments or recommend where and how repairs can be done. Like a pit- crew, they checked breaks, mechanism connections, and even the quality of our tires. It is so important to have the correct height and correct type of assistive device to insure safe mobility and reduce the possibility of falls. We would like to send a big "Thank You" to Allison and her team for giving our walkers and wheelchairs such great attention! Path to Well-Being How do you make a plain old Tuesday more exciting? By adding a Dance Party of course! Sherry Mayer decorated the lobby for Disco Tuesday, in August, where we all got together and boogied to Disco Music with party lights and silly hats. What a blast we had! The fun excursion has now ballooned and has become a monthly tradition. September's dance-a-thon was a Western Themed Hoedown with bandanas and country music for a little boot scoot boogie, followed by a trip to the saloon, or "Happy Hour" as it's more commonly known. We truly have so much fun! It feels so good to get up, to dance and laugh with our friends and neighbors, and to just feel a bit silly once in a while. We are looking forward to our 1950's Doo- Wop Dance party on October 7th at 2pm, during Active Aging Week. So lace up your saddle shoes and get your body moving. We'll save you a dance! Thriving
