Class/Home Work: Visual Interpretation

Directions: Choose a memorable scene from either “I am Odysseus” or “The Lotus- Eaters” or “The Cyclops”. Then, answer the following questions on half a sheet of computer paper:■I chose this scene because… (Write a few sentences on

why you chose this scene. What is significant or important about it?)

■Odysseus is presented as an epic hero in this scene by… (what does he do that falls under one of the epic hero elements?)

Last, draw this scene on the other half of the paper.

12/7 Bell RingerWhy do you believe the cyclopes, and specifically Polyphemus, show no respect for the gods, even though they are born from the gods?

■They live by different rules; they are the CHILDREN of gods which puts them on a different level (minor power gods).

■Even though they show disrespect, their prayers/requests are held higher than mortals.
