I am a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, also

known as the PSLV rocket. Today I will

talk about my journey.

I was nurtured by the great Indian

scientists of ISRO. These creative

scientists worked day and night to design

and prepare me to represent India in an

unforgettable space journey.

They made my satellite using plastics

thrown in the oceans and beaches and

they were successful in making a light

weighted satellite, which I could carry to

space. These scientists managed to put the

quantity of fuel which I could carry to

space.

I was ready for travelling to space but

suddenly a flood occurred in the Bay of

Bengal and it rained heavily for a few

days. Finally, it was the launching day,

but it was still raining heavily. Everyone

decided to abort the mission. But

suddenly the rain stopped and the

scientists decided to carry-on the mission.

I was launched and took circles around

the Earth with a little fuel to escape the

gravitational force of the Earth. Finally, I

escaped. I now started to break into pieces

and let the satellite go towards the

destination.

When it was close enough, it took its

maximum speed and entered the orbit

of the planet. Finally, it reached its

destination, the planet Mars.

After that day, India was the first

country to reach Mars in its first

attempt.

A big thank you to all Indian scientists

who made this possible and made our

country proud. I am very happy to

have been a part of this incredible

space mission.

The surface of the Earth is like a jigsaw

puzzle. It‟s not a single piece of land.

There are approximately 20 pieces of

land which keep moving constantly. We

can‟t feel them as they move very slowly.

Each one of those puzzle pieces are

called tectonic plates. Whenever these

plates bump, hit or slide against another,

an earthquake occurs. In the past few

days, we have felt many earthquakes in

Delhi. Nearly a dozen low- intensity

earthquakes have jolted Delhi- NCR…

Do you know why?

That is because Delhi lies on the Indo-

Gangetic belt which has sediments. Delhi

also feels tremors whenever quakes occur

in the Himalayas, So, if any quake occurs

in Himalayas or even the Hindukush, the

impact is felt in Delhi-NCR. Now we

know that Delhi is an earthquake prone

zone. Therefore, instead of panicking, we

should be prepared and take

precautionary measures in whichever

way we can.

Do you know who am I? I am the most feared and the fifth largest pandemic

in the world and my name is Coronavirus. I was first detected on 31st

December 2019 and was born in the city of Wuhan in China. On 11th March,

the WHO (World Health Organization) declared me as a pandemic. You know

the biggest secret of the world? Nobody has come to any conclusion about my

origin. Some say that I have come from bats, some say that I have been

created in a laboratory. Till date there is no way humans can get rid of me

easily. Even though all the countries are trying hard enough to get rid of me,

but I will make sure that I do not get kicked out so easily. My lifespan in a

human body is of 14 days. and I make conditions worse for the aged people

andfor the ones who have low immunity. I was officially named as „Severe

Acute Respiratory Syndrome‟ or „SARS-COV-2‟ by the International

Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. My Scientific name is

orthocoronavirinae, commonly known as Covid-19. „Co‟ stands for corona,

„vi‟ stands for virus and „19‟ stands for 2019. I am very contagious and

because of me, the whole world is in lockdown. If anyone tries to go out, I

will attack them, get them infected and they won‟t even know until they get

themselves tested. I will soon be spreading out very fast as I can mutate

myself easily. There are certain ways in which you can detect my presence in

a human body.

Humans face symptoms such as fever, cough, tiredness and sore throat.

I am powerful enough to affect them in more than one way. I guess

people are really are scared of me. That‟s why no one is on the roads,

no schools or malls are open. Everything is shut and has come to a

standstill. I can tell you a little secret that only a few intelligent and

responsible people know.

IF YOU STAY AT HOME AND DO NOT COME OUT OF

YOUR HOMES, I WILL NOT BE A TROUBLE FOR YOU.

You think you are smart? No way! I am way smarter

than you are. Just come out of your houses and I am

ready to catch you!

BIOGRAPHY Of A NEWSPAPER

5

I am an English newspaper and I was

printed in the “Times of India” press. I saw

the factory system and how it works. Then I

was packed with my friends in bundles of

100 newspapers each and was put in a cargo

truck that took us to the Mumbai airport.

This was the first time I saw an airport. We

were put into Blue Dart cargo aviation and

the name of the plane was „Cargolux‟ that

took us to the Delhi airport. Since, I was at

the top of my bundle I could see the whole

sky. When we landed, we went to OPG

WORLD SCHOOL and then were taken to

the library. The library was huge with lots

of books on multiple shelves. After that we

went to class 6C and I saw joy on

everyone‟s faces. A boy distributed us.

Some children wrote on me, some children

read me, some children went to the wizard‟s

corner and tried to solve puzzles. A child

threw me down and stamped his foot on me.

Then a teacher came, picked me up and

cleaned me, read some pages and kept me in

her bag. She took me home and then the

next day she gave me for recycling and that

was the end of my life as a newspaper.

The earth‟s temperature has

increased by 9 to 10%. The climate

has changed a lot. We know this

phenomenon by the name of

„GLOBAL WARMING‟ due to

which gases present in the earth are

increasing and harming us a lot. We

are becoming the reason for this

global warming since we are using

a lot of vehicles for commuting

from one place to another. We often

use them for short distance travel

too. There was a time, when people

used to commute using bicycles,

which helped a lot in keeping the

environment pollution free. The

rising temperature on our planet

leads to burning of forests. To

overcome all these problems,

children are planting trees

everywhere to clean the

environment and to reduce

pollution. Another contribution can

be done by shifting factories

outside the cities and planting more

trees nearby. Nature has got time to

heal itself during this lockdown.

6

This has helped a lot to repair

the ozone layer. We should take

it as a lesson. The Ganga &

Yamuna Rivers used to be very

dirty in the past, but since the

day we have stopped throwing

garbage and stopped burning

dead bodies near the rivers,

these have become super clean.

This will help to overcome

shortage of water in India. So,

we should pledge that we will

do all needful things which can

help to save the environment

and also to make our future

better

Shayan Ahmad utilised some of his lockdown time coding for

Moonhack 2020.

Moonhack is an international event organised by Code Club Australia,

powered by Telstra Foundation bringing together kids from across the

world for a week of coding! Moonhack is wrapped for 2020. They had

34,170 kids coding planet-saving solutions with them.

Shayan participated in a Scratch - Drone Planting Project and

Space Clean-up Project. He made a game where a drone drops seeds

to regenerate the bush with trees on Mars and Earth. In the other

game, a space rocket cleaned up all the space junk that would come in

its controlled path. It was a great learning experience while coding the

projects independently. Shayan learnt about sustainability both in

space and on Earth.

Can you imagine how life would

be there three decades from now!

I tried hard to put my thoughts

together and got some vague ideas

as to how life would be in the year

2050. The World in 2050 will be

much more advanced than today‟s

world. It will be beyond our

imagination. Life in 2050 will

mostly be technology driven.

Eating out in the restaurant would

look entirely different from what

we experience now. The service

at the restaurants would be done

by robots and machines and there

will be less human touch. There

will be flying cars - it would be

the age of Artificial Intelligence.

There would be drones to deliver

your food. We will be able to go to

Mars. We would have found

medicine for many health

problems. We would be able to fly.

Robots would do half of human

work. We would be able to travel

back in time with the help of time

machine. We would have suits like

Iron Man.

8

We would have discovered life on

other planets. We would be able to

talk to aliens. We would have

invisible cars. Things would be

much easier and faster than today

but what we would probably miss

would be the emotional touch in

our lives.

Once upon a time, in a village near Kota, there lived a girl called

Pooja. She had a pen which was given by her grandfather on her

birthday. She thought it was lucky for her, as whenever she wrote

her exams with this pen, she always got good marks. She always

used to carry her lucky pen with her. One day when she was in a

hurry for her final exam, she forgot her lucky pen at her home.

When she sat down to start her exam, she realised that she had

forgotten her lucky pen at home. She started crying and was tense.

Then her teacher came and consoled her and told her to write the

exam with another pen. When she came home, she told everything

to her mother, then her mother told her to wait for the results Then

her mother explained her that it was her hard work and dedication

which helped her succeed and not the magic of her lucky pen.

I am a boy who goes to school,

Carrying heavy bags,

Burdened with expectations,

Teachers and students everywhere.

Playing cricket,

I often get a wicket.

Break time is full of conversations,

all about studies and examinations.

My school is a study centre,

where we are on our way to be experimenters

Oh, my little sister,

You just gave me a blister.

Sometimes annoying, sometimes obedient,

But you’re like a friend,

Who is forever ready to trouble me,

But still care for me.

Oh, my little sister,

You just gave me a blister

Hope is like a new day,

Making all fears go away.

This is required in abundance today,

As there is a corona virus scare across the world,

Which has to be kept at bay.

Faith, Joy and Peace go hand in hand with Hope,

We need to be strong for our dear ones and cope.

We should look at the bright side always,

And face our troubles with smiles,

Which will help us go miles.

Mother nature gave me birth,

And I came down on the Earth.

My arrival also brings along hail.

Humans want to fill me in their pail.

When I fall from Indra’s crown,

I see many beautiful umbrellas down.

I bring rainbow and thunder,

But I’m not as cruel as a hunter.

Running down from running clouds,

Chatter chatter, I fall aloud.

I help the flowers to rejoice,

But make a lot of noise.

I enrich the soil,

And the farmers toil.

When I come down from the mountain,

I sprinkle water on fields like a fountain

Hope’ is my best friend.

‘Hope’ helps me build confidence.

‘Hope’ allows me to dream of winning

‘Hope’ is the friend that never leaves

me.

‘Hope’ tells me to move on in life.

‘Hope’ helps me to overcome my

sadness.

‘Hope’ is the only thing needed by my

My friend's birthday got me thinking,

How Mathematics forms an integral part of our life.

The house was decorated with balloons and confetti,

The cake was put on the table and he brought out the knife.

Then the cake was cut and divided amongst us,

After we gave him our gifts.

Though we subtracted some money from our parents' pockets,

His joys multiplied, this gave our spirits a lift.

We celebrated, met some new children,

Added them to our friend's list.

We put some yummy food in our tummy,

I never thought of Maths this way,

But it has a lot of interesting angles.

Geometry, fractions - all funny concepts,

Enough to keep our brains forever entangled

I had a lot of fun editing our class e-magazine. I was interacting

with my classmates, which was a very good way of knowing them

better. Although asking, sending and checking documents was a

difficult task, I managed to complete it. I am thankful for being

given this opportunity, as I had never done editing before for any

magazine. My time was well spent, during these lockdown holidays,

due to my role as a student editor. I couldn't have completed this

task without the help of my friends. A special thanks to all the team

members in our group - Rohan, Pratham, Radha, Rudra and Ragini

for supporting our team and sending our contributions timely to

Priya Ma‟am.

Shayan

In the year 2020, everyone in the world is in a lockdown everyone is

home bound. This was our first experience with online schooling. It

went off very well and our teachers made excellent efforts to make

this successful. Our teachers gave us a task of creating an e-

magazine for all classes. They had selected few children to be the

editorsof their sections, who had to follow up on their groups for

writing various articles, poems, drawings, creative writings etc. I

was selected as one of the editors and honestly, I was so thrilled and

excited to work on it. My task was to follow up with my team-

mates, which I did. My team was brilliant, helped me all the time by

sending whatever they could. Even they enjoyed doing the same as

they were a part of making their own magazine. This was an

opportunity for me to explore my leadership skills, social skills and

also taught me to coordinate with other members. I thank Ma‟am for

choosing me as an editor.

My experience as a student editor was fantastic. I got a chance to

improve my English and to correct my group members‟ mistakes, if

any. I also got a chance to show my creativity in compiling writings

and also to write a story on space missions, which I always wanted to

write. In this project, my group members coordinated with me very

well. It taught me the value of team work. Overall, it was a fantastic

experience and I fully thank my class teacher for giving me this

opportunity to work as a student editor

Rakshita

I am very fortunate that I got a chance of becoming a student editor. I

liked and enjoyed compiling and editing the stuff that I received from

my fellow mates. I learnt a lot from this experience. I also improved

my English while doing this as being an editor required me to research

and proofread a lot. I was happy leading my group. I am very happy

that my teachers had faith in me that I will do this job successfully. I

liked interacting with my team mates and I also got to learn a lot from

them. I wish I will get this fun learning opportunity again.

When I got selected as a student editor, I was ecstatic to get this unique

opportunity. I was happy to interact with my teammates and they were

equally excited to share their work. I didn‟t have to remind them

much as they submitted their work on time. I must say that all of them

are very creative. I learnt many new things as an editor like proof

reading, grammar check and organizing documents. I also got to know

a lot about my teammates and their abilities. I think they were also

very glad to get this opportunity as they had put in a lot of effort to

submit their work. I am looking forward to more such opportunities.
