THE HOUSE PLAN NEWSPublished by Briggs '39

At this point the party moved tothe 1910 room where, with the fa-culty member, Mr. Mammen, and hischarming wife as judges, a modernversion of the 61d-fashloned spel-ling bee was held, the prize win-ners receiving a plate of dillpickles. The minor riot that fol-lowed was caused by serving of food(mmmmmm l) in the game room. Then, the party went to town~ Among otherspresemt was the new president, PhilKramer, and Sonia (lucky me), aBriggsian '40 who took Jeanne (howabout it Briggs '39), and a Shepardforty-ite.

Personal comments from Mr. Mammenevinced a desire for more games atfirst, and dancing to follow laterin the evening. Games such as auto-graphs, which, in Mr. Mammen's opin~ion, would "break the ice", tookprecedence over others.

All and sundry can be quoted assaying the party was merveilleuseand magnifique, even earning theapproval of the house committee,(and that's going some).

Behold,a sparkling new linoleum, a giftof the C lass of' 05. In the mus icroom you find a new piano and alsoa radio which cost the Class of'IIsome $600. The Bowker Reading Room, for a long time a reading room inname only, has sUddenly developedinto the genuine article, withbook-cases along the wall over-flowing with the best of fictionand non-fiction books of th day,up to date and back numbers ofEsquire, New Yorker, and C.C.N.Y.Mercury.
