Hydronic Mechanical Panel System

Hydronic Assemblies Inc. (HAI) mechanical panels are designed for the professional hydronic

heating and cooling technicians. These panels are piped just like the pros do it in the field. They

are preassembled; pressure tested and prewired on a rugged powder coated plate steel

platform that promotes speed and quality of the installation. We use common parts and

components for familiarity and ease of service.

The system consists of a starter/base panel and add-on distribution panels. Choose between

hydraulic separation and air/dirt eliminator for your starter panel and then add the appropriate

add-on panel to complete your near boiler piping. Multiple circulator choices for each panel

ensures full customization to meet the project zone requirements.

Base Panels

BD Series: This base panel has an air/dirt eliminator, zone control, 2 - 1” pumped zones. It is

typically used with an oil boiler, modulating gas boiler with hydraulic separation, distribution

side of a buffer tank or any heat/cool source where hydraulic separation is not required.

Standard circulators have high efficiency ECM motor designs.

BS Series: This base panel has a hydraulic separator, zone control, source side pump, fill &

vent, expansion tank tee, air vent, dirt drain and 2 - 1” pumped zones. The BS Series is typically

used with a modulating gas boiler without hydraulic separation, air to water heat pump, water

to water heat pump (Geothermal) and any other heat/cool source where hydraulic separation

is required. Standard circulators have high efficiency ECM motor designs.

Zone Sentry® Zone Valve

The Taco Zone Sentry® Zone Valve enhances the overall performance of any zone valve system.

The unique patented technology in the Zone Sentry utilizes microcircuit based logic to control a

gear driven electronic actuator which drives a ball valve based body design. All this adds up to a

zone valve that leads the industry in energy efficiency, flow capacity (Cv), shutoff pressure

rating, ease of installation, diagnostic capability and the number of valves (12) that can be use

on a standard 40VA transformer. Taco Zone Sentry zone valves are available in sweat, threaded,

3/4” Press Connection, Inverted Flare 3/4” sweat and 3-way configurations.

Application:

Taco Zone Sentry® Zone Valves provide on-off, normally open or normally closed control in

both open and closed hydronic systems. The valves can be used in a wide variety of heating and

non-condensing cooling applications, primarily designed for use with baseboard, fan coils,

radiators, convectors, air handlers, heat pumps and radiant applications.

Ease of Installation / Operation:

The Taco Zone Sentry is the most technologically advanced zone valve ever made. It’s also

simple to install and operate. The valve can be installed in any direction, in any orientation. We

then went a step further, allowing the operator to be mounted to the 2-way valve body in

either direction, great for those tight baseboard jobs. Snap-in quick connects on the back of the

valve make for a simple, secure and fast wiring hook-up. A green LED light shows full

functionality of the valve’s operation and thermostat status. Under a no power situation the

manual override button located on the top of the valve allows the ball to be rotated up to 90°

and is also marked with a slot to indicate the position of the valve.

iSeries®MixingValve

Taco iSeries Mixing Valves are a breakthrough in precision, cost effective temperature control

for heating systems. The iSeries valves are available in two versions, providing either outdoor

reset control or fixed water supply temperature by modulating the position of a 2-way, 3-way

or a 4-way valve. Additionally, iSeries valves protect the boiler against flue gas condensation. A

microprocessor-based control is built into the valve actuator, to which all wiring connections

are made. All-in-one iSeries Mixing Valves deliver optimum zone-by-zone temperature control,

with built-in boiler protection.

Outdoor Reset Application:

Use the Taco Outdoor Reset iSeries Mixing Valves instead of a conventional injection system.

With a full featured outdoor reset control built right into the actuator there is no need for an

externally mounted reset control or expensive control valve. The iSeries valves can also be set

up to do zone-by-zone outdoor reset, providing optimal comfort control for every zone.

New 3-way iValve with union connections makes for an easy change-out of any thermo- static

mixing valve. Instantly improve the comfort and energy efficiency of any job by dropping in an

Outdoor Reset iValve in place of any fixed temperature mixing valve.

The direct drive actuator modulates a 2-way, 3-way or 4-way valve that injects different rates of

hot water, supplying virtually any water temperature to the heating system. Working off an

Page 25: Hydronic Mechanical Panels

adjustable reset ratio, the valve’s maximum and minimum system supply temperatures can be

adjusted to support all types of jobs, including staple-up radiant floors that require a higher

starting temperature. The iSeries valves include an adjustable boiler protection function which

prevents low water temperatures from returning to the boiler. With a multi-status LED

indicator light, plug-in wiring connections and an easy to remove actuator, the installation

could not be easier.

Setpoint Application:

Use the Taco Setpoint iSeries Mixing Valves instead of a thermostatic mixing valve for precise

dial-in temperature control to a heating system. In combination with the optional boiler

protection sensor, the iSeries valves provide the unique benefit of optimal temperature control

with boiler protection. The setpoint temperature is adjustable from 80°F to 180°F using a dial

located on top of the actuator. A 15°F setback of the supply water can be initiated for

additional unoccupied or nighttime setback control. An external multi-status LED indicator light,

plug-in wiring connections and an easy to remove actuator makes installation and diagnostics a

snap.
