Introducing NetStation, by Alnet. Netstation is an advanced video and sound recording system capable of operating with both IP and analog cameras. The system is based around the VDR-S server application that has been operating reliably across Europe for nearly 5 years on over 60,000 applications. In that time it has achieved remarkable stability, reliability and functionality. Providing the highest level of quality for PC based recording systems.

The NetStation can be a hybrid system comprising a total of 32 total video channels, which can be used in almost any combination of IP or analog. Hybrid solutions, (using analog and IP cameras) are extremely useful in situations where there is a need for developing new installations, or adding IP cameras to existing analog CCTV installations. In such cases the project managers are able to leverage existing analog CCTV assets while expanding the system using modern IP and mega-pixel cameras. This greatly reduces the cost of modernizing a video security system, while reaping the benefits of an advanced PC based recording solution. Analog cameras connect to the PC using Capture Boards, and the remaining IP cameras communicate utilizing the local network infrastructure. Additionally the NetStation is an open platform “hybrid” system, meaning that it is compatible with most IP cameras and IP video servers made by the leading manufacturers, so you are not restricted to one particular brand or line of cameras.

system expands over time. Easy internet updating of licensing allows for almost instant system expansion on demand. Licensing is handled via USB key on a video channel basis, and licenses are not married to a particular computer, or IP camera. This allows for rapid re-deployment of servers and cameras without licensing hassles. Additionally, 2 years of free application updates ensures that the software will always have the latest features and solutions that follow CCTV trends.

NetStation perfectly suits small to enterprise sized installations, ranging from 4 cameras to several hundred cameras. The NetStation software is compatible with the both standard resolution, and the newest mega-pixel IP camera solutions which provide video at resolutions several times greater than standard PAL/NTSC cameras. The Advanced Client Software called VDR-C, allows for an unlimited numbers of remote connections to numerous remote servers, providing access to live video streams, recorded video, and many other functions from a single location. There are also clients available for Mobile Devices equipped with SymbianOS and Windows Mobile Operating Systems.

The Archive menu in the NetStation system is highly advanced and very simple to operate allowing easy access for reviewing and managing archived video. Recording for each camera channel in the archives creates its own timeline which clearly shows all the events that occurred to initiate recording. This creates an easy and functional way to localize and view events that occurred. As the operator rolls the mouse over the timeline, a preview window is displayed showing video that occurred during that time. The speed of the playback using the roll over function depends on the speed that the mouse is moved at across the timeline. The Archive Control Panel speed settings provides for functions such as forward/reverse playback with three speed selections, normal, 2x and 4x. You can also search recorded video for motion in specific areas, an advanced feature which allows the operator to draw a box on the screen and quickly scan for motion that occurred in that zone. All events that are found can be watched or marked with bookmarks for later review. Bookmarks can be placed in the archives manually, or they can be added automatically upon events or the activation of inputs.

The Camera Configuration menu allows for the precise configuration of all camera parameters on a camera by camera basis. Multilevel menus provide easy to understand tools that are available for each video channel. Motion detection is one of the tools available in the camera configuration, where sensitivity and zone masking are essential for each camera, especially for areas with constant motion.

A specialized photo album stores screenshots of cameras where they can be watermarked, and printed with ease from specific events. The intuitive backup function allows for fast and trouble free ways to backup your archived data to any device e.g. DVD, CD, or network storage. Video clips may also be easily exported to video files e.g. AVI, this way they can be played back on most PC’s without additional software having to be installed.

NetStationThe control of Digital Inputs and Outputs is a seamless process, and a number of programmed events can be programmed to be invoked based on specific inputs. Functions as moving a PTZ camera to a preset, start recording and controlling outputs, can be invoked using a simple input such as a motion sensor, doorbell or any other input.

Net Station allows for the connection of up to 64 PTZ cameras. Controlling of the PTZ functions, can either be done manually using the keyboard, USB windows joystick (for proportional control), mouse, or on screen control panel. A wide range of PTZ cameras are supported, in addition to the common Pelco-D, Pelco-P protocols. Preset control is an option that can be set manually on PTZ cameras, so specific cameras can monitor larger areas.

Extended sound channel control is a strong feature of the NetStation software. It’s possible to record up to 64 audio channels from IP cameras. Recorded sound can easily be browsed in the archives alongside with video recordings. Recording can also be activated based upon sound detection, capturing events even when motion is not necessarily detected (such as glass shattering). Tools for sound detection allow the precise tuning of all parameters available for sound.

Also included in the software is a very advanced scheduler based on a 24/7 system where parameters can be specified to run on set times and events. All camera recorded events, sound events, system alerts and even inputs and outputs can be configured to do specific options such as turn on recording, send output, connect to client, and email notifications. Additionally, the ability for the server to initiate a connection to a remote client upon events is especially useful, saving bandwidth and increasing the effectiveness of the operator by bringing events on screen instantly for review.

NetStationThe VDR-C client software interface is very similar to the VDRS/NetStation server software. Features that can be controlled from the client application include but are not limited to: viewing and backing up archived recordings, live view and client side recording. The client side recording can be stored with the remote PC, providing a redundant off site backup of the video streams. Thus the VDR-C application functions as a free Central Monitoring Station (CMS) complete with multi-monitor support and operator presence verification. This way a large installation can easily be monitored from a single, or multiple remote location(s).

In addition to the PC based VDR-C, an equally powerful and functional client is available for mobile devices. Mobile devices equipped with Windows Mobile or SymbianOS are supported for the use with VDR-C Mobile application. Functions that can be utilized from the VDR-C Mobile include: Live View, Archive View, PTZ control, and Digital Inputs and Outputs.
