Tobermory Race 1st Leg
1. RULES1.1 General Regulation 3.6 will apply (a member must
helm)
2. COURSE 2.1 Start – Ardmaleish Point Buoy (P) – Rubha Bodach
Buoy (green conical) (P) – Rubha Ban Buoy (red conical) (S) – Carry
Buoy (S) – Ardlamont Point Buoy (S) – Sgat Mor (S) – Finish (28
M).2.2 In accordance with General Regulation 10.3, competing yachts
shall take their own time when Sgat Mor light bears 090Åã M. The
yacht ahead and astern should be identified, their times estimated
and added to the declaration form. The form must be handed to the
Race Officer at Ardrishaig or sent electronically by 20.00hrs on 5
July 2014.
3. THE START3.1 The first signal will be at 06.50 and starts are
anticipated as follows:

3.2 The start line will be between the mainmast of the committee
vessel moored off the clubhouse of the Isle of Bute Sailing Club on
the West Side of Rothesay Bay and an inflatable racing mark, the
buoy to be left to Starboard.
4. THE FINISH4.1 The finishing line will be a line bearing of
090Åã M from the lighthouse on the end of the breakwater at the
entrance to the Crinan Canal at Ardrishaig.
5. TIME LIMIT5.1 The time limit for all classes will be 18.00.
5.2 If one yacht in any class has finished by the time limit,
racing for all classes will be extended by 1 hour.

RETIRALThe person in charge of a yacht retiring from the race
and not proceeding to Ardrishaig should advise the Race
officials.
PASSAGE THROUGH THE CRINAN CANALBoats will be locked through the
Ardrishaig basin in the order in which they finished. Vessels
should anchor off until hailed by the canal staff or CCC
organiser.
BERTHING AT ARDFERNAll boats competing in the race must contact
the marina office on VHF Channel 80 or by phone (01852 500247) on
their approach in order that a berth can be allocated; this is
particularly important should the weather be inclement. There is a
special berthing rate for competing yachts of £10 per night for the
Saturday and Sunday nights.
As an aid to the Race Officer owners intending to race are
requested to notify the office ([email protected]) by a simple
e-mail by 2.00pm on the Thursday before the event. NB: We are not
seeking firm ‘commitment’ only your ‘intention’ to race – ALL are
welcome on the start line. Nevertheless your attention to this
request would be much appreciated.

conical)(S) – Grey Isles Lighthouse (Glas Eileanan) (P) – Green

(40 M).2.2 Competing yachts shall take their own time when the Grey
Isles Light House bears 225 degrees M and when the Green Isles
Light House bears 240 degrees M. The yacht ahead and astern should
be identified, their times estimated and added to the form. The
declaration form in the 2014 Year Book must be handed to the Race
Officer at Tobermory by 09:00 hrs on 8th July 2014.
3. THE START3.1 The first signal will be at 06.50 and starts are
anticipated as follows:

3.2 The start line will be between the mainmast of the committee
vessel moored off the south west end of Eilean Righ, Loch Craignish
and a racing mark offshore, the mark to be left to Port . If there
are light winds at the start, the committee vessel may move the
start line towards Tobermory, in which case, only marks on the
course between the new start line and Tobermory will apply. Please
watch for signals and listen on channel 77 for announcements.
4. THE FINISH4.1 The finishing line will be between the mainmast
of the committee vessel moored off the North end of Calve Island
and an inflatable racing mark, the buoy to be left to
Port.Alternatively if there is no Committee Vessel on station to
the North East of Calve Island then all competing yachts should
take their own time when they cross a line bearing 225 degrees M to
the northernmost point of Calve Island and record this on a
declaration form in the 2014 yearbook in accordance with General
Regulation 10.3.
5. TIME LIMIT5.1 The time limit for all classes will be 20.00.
5.2 If one yacht in any class has finished by the time limit,
racing for all classes will be extended by 1 hour.
