The hare always bragged he was the
fastest
the tortoise he didn’t care

Come on you big old slow coach
Said the hare with a smile on his face

There’s only one way to prove who’s the
quickest
we’ve got to have a race

Next day all the animals gathered
to see this exciting show

The hare he was telling everybody
just how fast he’d go

But tortoise didn’t bothersaying
I’ll just take my time

It’s not the one who can run the fastest
but the first passed the winning line

Hurry up slowcoach, come on hurry up
this race I’m sure to win

Said the hare with a great big grin

So when the race was started
off like a rocket went the hare

The tortoise slowly crawled along
as if he had time to spare

Halfway through the race
the hare was ahead by a mile

I’ve time to take it easy
think I’ll sit down for a
while
He said

As the hare lay in the sunshine
and began to fall asleep

He didn’t hear the tortoise
slowly passed him creep

He lay there dreaming of
winning
and how to his friends he’d boast

but awoke just in time to see the
tortoisecrawl passed the
winning post
