We also understand that not every Sales Manager is born equal. Some will need to specialise in solution selling, some will work with high volumes, and others will have to be more technical. We have always experimented with the latest in software and social media solutions to allow our consultants to concentrate on what they do best: communicating with clients and candidates. We are one of very few recruiters where our consultants do zero “admin.” Our 24/7 research team look after the sourcing, which allows our consultants a laser focus on their relationships.

Our MD started his career in B2B sales recruitment

The roots of Humres began in the sales recruitment space, and even before that, our MD Paul Seth specialised in B2B sales recruitment himself. In 2006, we decided to focus on the technical construction and engineering markets, only in the last couple of years to come full circle, again adding construction sales to complete our service offering. Our internal L&D department ensures that best practices are shared, and Paul personally oversees the development plans of each of our 40+ consultants.

Our core activity is the supply of specialist sales people that have relationships with Architects, Specifiers, Consultants, Building Surveyors, Commercial Agents, Distributors, Wholesalers, Buying Groups, Merchants, Retailers, OEM’s, Facilities Managers and End-Users. We recognise that each sales relationship is unique and requires differing influencing and negotiations skills. Architects don’t respond well to aggressive tactics, wholesalers require a more supportive approach, contractors are more commercial and retailers need a customer-centric visionary.

As we have worked closely with contractors, sub-contractors and consultancies for years, we are well placed to ask them their opinion on the best sales talent in the market. We of course have a thorough interview process, but there is nothing more reliable than a recommendation from a sales client. This method has proved to be the source of some of our most successful candidates.

We position ourselves in our client’s shoes wherever possible: asking the questions that they would be asking themselves - understanding their challenges and quantifying how the required individual would address them.

We have placed candidates at over 1000 different clients within contracting, consulting and manufacturing to the Built Environment and made 643 placements in 2014. We will grow to 50 to 60 consultants in 2016 with 15 dedicated to sales.

Step 1: Assessment

Our construction experience means that we ask only searching questions about the role. We take our advisory capacity extremely seriously, and we only take on the roles where we believe that expectations can be met within the market.

Step 2: Specification and Research

As the specification crystallises, we will help you to flesh out all the details and leave no stone unturned. We will prepare a sourcing plan using all available channels – we’re experts in social recruitment as well as the traditional methods.

Step 3: Identification

We will tirelessly scout the market for best-of-class candidates using our close industry ties, personal contacts, database and social sourcing techniques. You will be kept informed of progress with regular status updates.

Step 4: Evaluation

Our consultants will select a short list of high-potential hires and conduct initial screening interviews. We view ourselves as an extension of your hiring team. If we wouldn’t hire them ourselves, we won’t put them forward.

Step 5: Presentation

You will be presented with confidential written reports on the candidates that we feel are best suited to your company and project. You will only receive 3 or 4 candidates who most closely fit our specification.

Step 6: Interviews

If we have understood your requirements correctly, the interview process should be a voyage of discovery, both for the candidate and the client. We provide a mediation service for both parties and keep the best interests of both client and candidate in mind. Time for some heart-to-heart honesty.

Step 7: Hire

There are many hurdles still to overcome once an offer has been made – both mental and practical. We smooth the negotiations, offer a sympathetic ear during the resignation process and make sure that we are on the end of a phone during the on-boarding. Our job doesn’t stop when the contract has been signed.
