Dear hummel retailer,In the wake of the worldwide economic crisis, we are happy and very proud to say that hummel has come out on the other side an even stronger company than we were in the fall of 2008 when the economic bubble began to burst.

Throughout the two-year crisis that has seen a number of companies go down, hummel has managed to stay on top thanks to our strong financial stability and great partnership with you, our retailers.

For more than a decade during my past 18 years as CEO of hummel, we have been part of the exclusive AAA category based on liquidity, profitability and solidity - in 2010 along with a mere 4% of all other Danish companies. During the past 6 years we have had an annual 20% growth on Teamsport textile and footwear and consequently tripled our turnover within that product category. Not only do we owe this development to a great and innovative product range but in particular to you, our long-term retail partners and your impressive sell-through figures and capabilities.

On the brink of entering 2011 we are close to achieving

our long time ambition of becoming the leading

handball brand in key markets such as the Nordic

countries, Germany and France and we are very much

looking forward to following the national teams of

Poland, Bahrain, Serbia and Australia who will be

wearing playing kits made from 100% recycled plastic

bottles and cups at the men’s Handball World Cup in

Sweden in January 2011. It will be just as exciting to see

if one of the most ambitious projects in the handball

world, AG Håndbold København, with an array of

Danish and international stars will be able to fulfill their

own and the ambitions from the outside world.

Ever since 1923 hummel has been a teamsport brand

deeply rooted in football, and in the future we will

be vstrengthening our position within the world’s

most popular game even more with the signing of

ambitious 2. Bundesliga club Rot Weiss Oberhausen

who will be wearing an SMU jersey based on our new

Bee Authentic product line. On top of that we will

be eager to monitor the development of two of our

other exciting sponsorships, the Afghan and Sierra

Leonean national football associations - two countries

severely marked by years of warfare and civil unrest.

It will be our mission to bring back the joy of football

to these populations who have suffered immensely

for so long. Both Afghanistan and Sierra Leone are

perfect examples of hummel’s quest for sponsorships

and teams that value the love and joy of sports and a

perfect brand match higher than multimillion figures on

a contract.

After having watched a football match in the pouring rain young shoemaker Albert Messmer develops one of the first football cleats the world has ever seen. In the aftermath he founds the company Messmer & Co. with his brother Michael Ludwig Messmer in the Hamburg suburb of Eppendorf.

Messmer & Co. sends out their first catalogue offering everything from hiking boots to

medicine balls and bathing caps.

Due to bankruptcy the Messmer brothers have to let go of their company which is taken over by their lawyer Hermann Christian Knibbe and his two business partners, Jürgensen and Tigges.

The company suffers heavy bombing by the allies at the end of World War II. Viktoriastraße where the company is located is literally swept

off the city map.

hummel reopens in the new premises outside Hamburg. They now produce football boots,

handball shoes and skates.

Bernhard Weckenbrock from Kevelaar near the border to Holland acquires hummel and moves

the production to southern Germany.

This year sees the signing of hummel’s first ever sponsorship contract with handball club Grün Weiss Dankersen. GWD Minden, as the club is called today, is still sponsored by hummel making the co-operation one of if not the longest in sports history.

hummel signs its first sponsorship deal with football club, Duisburg, from the 2nd German Bundesliga.

hummel launches its first collection of sportswear. Promotional sponsorship helps sales and the company enjoys massive success. Later that year the hummel logo, the bumblebee, is created - in a somewhat rounder version.

hummel is sold in most European countries – and in Bahrain, where an Arab emir suddenly needs shoes worth 250.000 Deutschmark from one day to the other. In the world of football, hummel signs its first major sponsorship deal with Werder Bremen

After participating in the Handball World Championships in Germany, Danish national team players Jørgen Vodsgaard and Max Nielsen found VN Sport ApS and begin market hummel products in Denmark. The brand is an instant success.

hummel signs Danish star forward Henning Jensen who has just moved to the major European club Real Madrid from Borussia Mönchengladbach

hummel signs its first sponsorship contract with the Danish Football Association.

Jørgen Vodsgaard and his business partners become owners of hummel. The company is now 100% Danish.

hummel has expanded its activities in all of Europe and promotes itself through sponsorships in major European clubs. Among these Tottenham Hotspurs, Norwich, Hontved Budapest, Verona, Feyenoord and the Danish,

Swedish and the Norwegian national teams

hummel signs a sponsorship deal with mighty Real Madrid – and with the club’s biggest star Danish nightmare, Emilio Butragueño. The deal sees the sale of hummel products hit the roof.

The Danish national football team wins the European championship – wearing hummel. Since Denmark hasn’t qualified regularly and is admitted only 10 days before the tournament starts at the expense of former Yugoslavia heavily marked by civil war problems concerning delivery of playing kits to the team arise. In accordance with the unexpected success of the Danish national team sports stores across the country are ripped of the national team jerseys.

hummel introduces its fashion wear based on a re-launch of old tracksuit designs from the 1970es. The clothes are an instant and huge success and helps form the retro wave that runs across the fashion world in the years to come.

hummel signs a major sponsorship deal with the Danish national sports association. The deal involves among other things that the whole Danish Olympic delegation wears hummel apparel at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

hummel celebrates its 25th anniversary as apparel sponsor of the Danish Football Association. The Olympic games in Athens turn out a huge success for the Danish company – not only does the whole Danish Olympic delegation wear apparel and footwear but when the Danish royal family shows up wearing the hummel chevrons – an appearance that is later compared to having copyright on the Holy Bible itself by leading international communication experts in terms of PR value. More success follows in August 2004 when

Sportswear International selects hummel “best

athletic women’s collection”.

hummel enjoys an excellent start to 2005 when the company is named ”Sportswear Brand to Watch 2005” by probably the most recognized trend and lifestyle agency, Worth Global Style Network.

hummel owner Christian Stadil receives the HBH award 2006 for personal branding and untraditional marketing.

hummel kicks off the year of 2007 in the best way possible by winning the Global Sportstyle Award for Premium Winterstyle Fashion. At the men’s handball World Cup hummel sponsors no less than 7 national teams and 65 individual players as part of the company’s extensive ‘Back in Black’ campaign. hummel team Poland makes it all the way to the final where they are defeated

by hosts Germany in a thrilling encounter

In January 2008, hummel launches “Characters” – the company’s biggest handball campaign ever in connection with the men’s handball European Championships in Norway. Besides equipping the Polish and Montenegrin team hummel has footwear contracts with some of the biggest names in handball – among these four players from the Danish national team that won the title. A few months later hummel team AaB win the Danish Superliga championship for the first time since 1999. In August the newly crowned Danish champions gain access to the Promised Land - the UEFA Champions League - by defeating FBK Kaunas 4-0 on aggregate.

In the group phase they square up against mighty Manchester United, Scottish champions Celtic FC and 07/08 Spanish La Liga runners-up Villareal CF.

No fewer than 93 players and 4 different national teams wear hummel footwear and apparel at the men’s handball World Cup in Croatia in January. The same event sees the pre-launch of the company’s biggest handball campaign to date – The Unusual Characters. Just prior to the tournament hummel signs one of the best handballers in the world and later world champion, Daniel Narcisse aka Air France. With him on board a ship already consisting of other world class players such as Danes Mikkel Hansen and Lars Christiansen, Macedonian Kiril Lazarow (World Cup top goalscorer), Germans Oliver Roggisch and Jogi Bitter alongside Polish playmaker Grzegorz Tkaczyk, the hummel handball ship is on a steady course from the very beginning of the year.

hummel enters into an agreement with one of the biggest bands in the world, The Black Eyed Peas, and their partner RETH¿NK to support The E.N.D. World Tour 2010, which is also the kick-off of the company’s recycling campaign. In June, hummel announces its sponsorship of the Afghan National Football Association and will consequently be part of writing football history in the war-torn country. October 10th is another significant date for hummel as Sierra Leone draw 0-0 against South Africa wearing their special

edition jersey for the first time.

Based on natural silver salt, Polygiene is a highly effective antimicrobial made from recycled

silver. Polygiene effectively inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria and eliminates fungi

that contribute to tinea infections, more commonly known as jock itch and athlete’s foot.

Permanent and environmentally friendly, the active odor control effect meets the highest

standards for skin safety and hygiene. Approved for use in the textile industry by Oeko-Tex® and

bluesign®. Virtually any fabric type can be enhanced with permanent anti-odor properties using

Polygiene – without affecting color, comfort or other fabric characteristics.

Introduced in 1999 as a product of Swedish specialty chemicals provider Perstorp AB, Polygiene

antimicrobial technology quickly gained recognition as an effective and environmentally friendly

antimicrobial technology using natural silver salt. Polygiene AB was incorporated in 2006 as a

separate company with Perstorp AB as its principal owner.

Initially, only the Base Layer products will be developed using Polygiene but from 2010 and

onwards more hummel apparel as well as footwear will include this revolutionary technology.

PU: All footballs are hand-stitched and made from the synthetic material ‘PU’ (Polyurethane).

This number shows the thickness of the PU material in millimeters. The thicker the PU material, the softer the touch of the ball is.

Balanced latex bladder with our specially developed Air-Trap valve which makes the ball retain air for longer than standard footballs with latex bladders.

The ‘MF’ sign shows that the PU uses microfiber backing which makes the material extra soft.

FOOTbALL mAINTENANCE gUIDE

1. Flatten out the ball as much as possible. (This is especially important with new balls.)

2. Drip 1 - 2 drops of valve-oil into the valve-hole. (It is important that valve-oil is used at inflation

as it makes the valve-hole flexible and it seals more tightly.)

3. Face the valve-hole upwards. (This helps to keep the bladder steady and prevents loss of balance.)

4. Place the pump needle into the valve-hole and start inflating. (Caution is advised when using

compressed air)

Nb:

- Always use a long pump needle to avoid the risk of the bladder getting loose from the valve-hole

- The first time you inflate a new ball, inflate with 0.1 bar more than recommended pressure about 24hrs

before use in order to secure the ball’s flexibility and shape.

1. Clean football in soapy water - using a mild soap and rinse with water.

2. Keep footballs in a ventilated room at 15-25 degrees celsius.

3. Always drip 1 - 2 drops of valve-oil inte the valve-hole before inflation

Nb:

If the ball is inflated incorrectly it will be unbalanced, which will cause the ball to have an unreliable float

trough the air and a bad bounce. If the ball seems lop-sided, it is likely that the bladder is stuck to the

lining, in which case, do the following:

- Deflate the ball.

- Shake the ball to hear if the bladder has stopped sticking to the lining.

- When the bladder is freed from the lining, re-inflate by following the inflation instructions above.

HANDbALL INFLATION gUIDE

HANDbALL mAINTENANCE gUIDE

1. Flatten out the ball as much as possible. (This is especially important with new balls.)

2. Drip 1 - 2 drops of valve-oil into the valve-hole. (It is important that valve-oil is used at inflation

as it makes the valve-hole flexible and it seals more tightly.)

3. Face the valve-hole upwards. (This helps to keep the bladder steady and prevents loss of balance.)

4. Place the pump needle into the valve-hole and start inflating. (Caution is advised when using

compressed air)

Nb:

- Always use a long pump needle to avoid the risk of the bladder getting loose from the valve-hole

- The first time you inflate a new ball, inflate with 0.1 bar more than recommended pressure about 24hrs

before use in order to secure the ball’s flexibility and shape.

Handballs are to be kept in a ventilated room at 15-25 degrees celsius.

When not using resin on the handballs, we suggest to make them clean and grippy as follows:

1. clean off the dirt with water

2. smear liquid diswashing soap all over the ball

3. Rinse off the soap with running water and dry the ball with a towel or cloth

If resin is used on the handballs it is to be washed off with a special remover. We recommend that resin is

removed after every game to minimize the chance of crumbling.

Under Taliban rule, playing football

in Afghanistan could be punished

with public execution at the National

Stadium. Today, Afghanistan has a

National Football Association that has
